Back in the weird old days, when I took American history in junior high and high school, the Spanish America war was pretty much "Yellow Journalism", "Remember the Maine" and San Juan Hill. And this was in a very good New York school district. Doubt things have gotten any better over time.

So, I think that my favorite piece of science fiction ever is "Use of Weapons" by Banks. I loved "Lord Foul's Bane" and that whole first trilogy. "Last Call" is my favorite fantasy. I think that I would prefer a 12 year old nephew or niece to be reading the Heinlein juveniles for multiple reasons.

Complicated one because it doesn't just deal with the evolution of social mores but also what level of story complexity is best for what age of reader. "Use of Weapons" is probably my favorite science fiction. Not sure that it is a good starting point for a 12 year old. Heinlein juveniles might be.

"Selling the Post" is a distraction. The Post's value is its people. Not its brand or its contracts or its debts or you name it. Put together a plan to replace the Post with something different and better. Bezos is complete immaterial.

I love dining in Dublin (so much that I occasionally do a layover there just to hit favorite places to eat). Sadly many of my favorites are all about hit chilis and garlic and ... However, I have enjoyed some lovely meals at "The Pig's Ear" and they used to have a nice early evening dinner.

One of the problems that the right has is the sheer number of grifters and influencers. Williamson is cult leader. She is highly abusive of her staff. She's big into the same "power of positive thinking" nonsense as Trump. Ignore the fact that she pretends to code left. See her for what she is.

Sorry. FWIW, made this yesterday. Long cook time, but almost zero active labor and turned out really well. (Veggie tagine like think with boiled wheat berries rather than cous cous and braised leeks). Lovely for a rainy day.
