Since those early days on Twitter, the #UglyDogs have broadened into an online fan community that supports all sled dogs and many mushers who love and treat them well. We also just love seeing everybody's pets leading happy lives, and work to support each other as well.

The story goes that a Twitter troll told Blair to "go back to your ugly dogs Karen," and we decided that since the dogs *definitely* aren't ugly, the ugly dogs must be us fans because they can always come back to us.

UglyDogs doesn't refer to the dogs! It's a group of online fans of sled dogs and mushing. The group grew up around @blairbraverman.bsky.social and her husband @quincemountain.bsky.social, who used to share lots of photos and stories of their dogs on old Twitter.
