i hope they don't mess up the Maduro

Yep, I don't know if he *needs* it, but if that can be a 20% weapon vs. LHB, all the better

oooh nooooo

It's like the one "south florida" beer you can get in new york city

Yeah, it looks like a total outlier for either a four-seamer or a two-seamer lol

Tungsten Arm O'Doyle will never die as long as the Angels exist.

I remember Carmelo Anthony getting some criticism for not wanting to get knee surgery at one point in his career, but ... I get it. This stuff is routine enough, but there's certainly not *zero* risk when it comes to any type of surgery, as we unfortunately were reminded of with Terrance Gore.

Yep + any risk of complications. There almost certainly isn't going to be another contract after his current one, so he probably just needs to gut it out and try to hit that milestone before it ends

we're not grading on a Tampa curve here,it's still an airport.

Dr. Spencer Stein, a sports orthopedic surgeon at NYU Langone Health, told NJ.com last March that Stanton would be facing only β€œa couple months recovery” with surgery, β€œwhich is essentially cleaning out the tendon (in both elbows) and then possibly repairing as well.”

Does Stanton regret not having surgery?

β€œYou get the surgery and you can go back to being in the general population in a few months, but my job is to put some of the most force into a batted ball,” he said.

Stanton’s right about that. He has been among baseball’s leaders in exit velocity for years and had a 94.4 mph average exit velocity in 2025. That’s a lot of elbow stress.

β€œThat’s not going to be fixed in surgery, and I don’t care what any doctor says because they don’t know what’s going on,” Stanton said. β€œWhat’s written (about my elbows) is what me and the Yankees give you.”

I don't know if Giancarlo Stanton has the healthiest outlook, but I guess I get not wanting to miss a bunch of time with surgery at his age either www.nj.com/yankees/2026...

Spencer Jones is the most honorable hitter in baseball. It's a 1v1 contest between him and the pitcher, we don't have to get any of those fielders involved in this.

If you're gonna put on a dress code, you've gotta provide a much better experience than the Tampa airport does.

i would feel a little better about the whole thing if it felt like the advertisement somehow subsidized the price of the jersey for me, but that's extremely not how it works

McLean heard my skepticism about his ranking for Fantasy and decided to become even better

26.02.2026 19:39 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, i used to think rookies as a class were overrated for Fantasy, but now I kinda think with the truly elite ones, there might be too much conservatism on the whole.

Even this year's crop of 2nd-year SPs all seem cheaper than I expected them to be (except McLean and maybe Burns)

26.02.2026 19:39 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, we got into that on a recent episode of FBT

Velocity gains almost certainly increase injury risky, but injury risk is not the only form of risk we should be concerned about!

I don't want to see Jacob deGrom throwing harder. But my late-round dart throws? I want more velocity every time!

He doesn’t get it. No one, not a single soul, thinks they weren’t rooting for the womens team. The disappointment is that once they were away from the women’s team and in their locker room, they had a good laugh at an extremely disrespectful β€œjoke” behind those women’s backs.

reminds of the possibly apocryphal stories about how the Marlins used to turn the in-stadium radar gun off when Brad Penny pitched because all he would try to do was hit as high as he could on the gun.

I've been thinking about this a lot and I simply have to believe this is out of context. I know it's easy to dunk on the Angels, but Maddux is a well-respected coach.

Best guess -- early-spring pens, they don't want guys chasing velo numbers?

Nolan McLean's velocity is also up pretty significantly, though he couldn't hold it through the third inning.

Results weren't great, but Braxton Garrett's stuff does look significantly better with his new UCL. He's a low-probability bet, but I think he should be on your late-round radar.

Yep, but I think a lot of the conventional wisdom is still "rookies are bad bets" and while it's true that rookies on the whole are worse than veterans, painting them all with that brush is a bad idea, too

(also helps that these types are *usually* super athletic and can provide SBs)

Oh no Samuel Basallo holding his mid-section after an attempted tag at the plate. Core injuries during Spring Training are not what you want to see.

Konnor Griffin currently has an ADP of 191 in the @rotowire.bsky.social Online Championship in The NFBC. So he’s still just a flyer in our high-stakes drafts.

But his draft stock bears watching as we move deeper into Spring Training.
