Oh I'm not disagreeing. But if I were speculating on the "how" a better fit for the way he would do it is to take advantage of his known depression. Publicly humiliate him, insult him, isolate him (eg. Publicly kick him out of party, send him to his 'room') and let him do the dirty work himself.

He defenestrated after being kicked out of a party because Matt (his long-term husband) got pissed he was there and told Peter to get rid of him. Or at least that's what the news story I read said. The details past that are..grey. Weird thing I can't tie, Matt and Peter have been open for >15 years.
