There, it's done! My own chaingun, made in Blender, textured in Substance Painter and then I made the audio entirely in DaVinci Resolve.
I actually made audio. It sounds like a gun turret! I'm really proud of myself.

It's ready, it has basic textures, and I managed to animate it with drivers!
Blender is such a great program. Needs some sound effects and visual effects too. But we're nearly there!

Been working on a chaingun model for my portfolio for the last few days. Still has some issues that I'm working on, but it's been a blast to make.
If you look hard enough you can spot some of the flaws that I've been ironing out! It's almost ready!
Hahaha, he is a good boy after all

Nice work!
How do I find the little artists?
The ones who have no likes on their art, so I can enjoy their work and make their day brighter at the same time?

Anduril, dirty, rendered in Cycles. It's a sword with some writing on the blade and on the pommel. It is grungy.
Closeup of Anduril, focus on the writing on the blade and the textures
Anduril but clean, before any of the dirt textures.

I made Anduril, Aragorn's sword from The Lord of the Rings. Completely made and textured in Blender. Was quite a challenge for me.

Now for documentation and an installer. What a great feeling!

My dumb little program now has all the features I wanted it to start with and I'm polishing it.
Figured the best way to find where it's terrible is to use it how I wanted it to be used.
Found this neat little star!

A todo list detailing the final steps for a 1.0 release of Shutterbug, an open source photometric analysis application
Down from "Let's build an application!" to 14 TODO items of varying difficulty.
None of them are exciting, most of them necessary. Can't believe this thing is ~8,000 lines of code. 2 months of consistent work!
I hope I can do it and have people use this thing.
I just hit a major goal with my program: Split-view layouts similar (but far rougher) to how Blender handles their layouts and views.
My little open source photometry app has come so far in 2 months.

Shutterbug's Nord themed UI, showing some stars being studied
Shutterbug's Gruvbox themed UI, showing some stars being studied
Shutterbug's unstyled UI, showing some stars and images being loaded.
I decided to make a tiny theme engine using Jinja2 and YAML while I make this tool more pleasant to use. I added two themes, based on Nord and Gruvbox.
Experiencing how hard it is to make something look and feel good, I have all the more respect for UI and UX designers. It's such a subtle art.
I refactored the back end of my astrophotography program, Shutterbug, into an event-driven system. To test the new design, I added aperture photometry!
Adjustable, intelligently self-adapting rings. No blocking. Live preview. Pure #python. Feels good.

Ah ha! I've got my program Shutterbug performing aperture photometry now.
Tomorrow I'm going to record a video and show the world! How exciting!

I'm making it to do differential photometry on a large amount of stars to find variables right now, but I intend to turn it into a general astronomy suite with time.
It works right now for the original goal, just needs a lot of polishing!
I've been working on building my own #astronomy analysis software in #python called Shutterbug. I just hit a major milestone: live action editing. Tools like box-select can now be created, previewed, tweaked, and confirmed interactively.
It only took 10 days to build, whoo!
I keep forgetting I have this account
