Help me people.
I need some suggestions for apocalyptic queer audiobooks. Zombies, war, viruses, or other.
Apocalyptic books are my happy place.
If there's romance, I prefer MM, but that's not a deal breaker.
Help me here, the internet search sucks

I'll likely write reviews for them as I get them

I couldn't find the audiobook at my local library ๐Ÿ˜”
I have the notification for it's arrival set.
Perhaps it will show up one day.

As a person chronically ill with EDS, it's tempting to read this though it's not my typical read.

I might re-read it some time. I suggested it to my niece to hear her thoughts. She's just getting into queer literature and prefers fantasy.
So she may persuade me to try again.

There's so much back story to the main characters, the warlord grandfather, and the sea witch. That have so much and so little bearing on the story, that several books to explore this should have happened.

Will there be an audiobook version? I'm willing to give merpeople another chance.

Sword and sorcery MM romance
A young magic prince falls in love with a merman.
I found the story to be lacking in understandable emotions. It's like they sprout from nothing.
It's pretty much the little mermaid with queer characters and a back story that should have been a series for it to work.

A slow burn story about the MC using her twin powers and determination to know her abandoned brother after his death
It's supposed be a mystery book. I'm not sure if it's my pattern recognition or if it's written like a well paved path with expected sights
There's no actual queerness in this book

I don't see audiobook options. Am I just missing it somehow or are they not available?

๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š A Strange and Stubborn Endurance features magic, royalty, mystery, murder, politics, all in a fantasy setting. A delightful exuberant amount of queerness graces the pages. Though all of it is behind TW.
Though I found the story predictable from the first couple of chapters, the story was good.

Ya, she has a beautiful voice that's clear and relaxin, until she reaches an S she can elongate and hiss. So sad, she would be great for most people.

I'll check her out. I don't have much hope though. I'm sensitive to "hiss" S sounds that are common in women's speech. It's hard to find one that doesn't have them.
Yay, for odd autistic sensitivity traits.
I hold out hope though, thank you for the recommendation.

Can I boost my own post? Insomnia and being awake still is making me resent the other early morning posts. I know time is relative on the internet.

๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š I need your help. I require the dullest audiobooks to listen to. I need noise to sleep so my own thoughts don't surface to smother me. But the drones of sleep music annoys me and the slightest hit of dopamine keeps me awake all night. So please if you have books that were so dull you can't finish

Makes sense. Perhaps you'll come back around and reply to this or let me know if an audiobook is released.

Sorry, I can't read pages of text anymore.

I couldn't find anything.

Oh this is the book if you're curious.
It was a pretty good story.

Some scenes may be spicy though.

I don't typically listen to anything too descriptive. Though I did once because I didn't know it was in there. I usually listen to them in bed all night while my husband is sleeping next to me. Anyways he woke during a scene being narrated very enthusiastically. He's much more reserved than I am.

The Brightness Between Us by Eliot Schrefer is a great example of why a sequel is sometimes not necessary. This story takes everything i enjoyed about the first and ignores it. Then gives a story of the past better left to imagination, and an undetermined future with the interesting alien ignored

I planned on taking it slow. However, 14.5hrs later I did stop to eat I've finished The Only Light Left Burning by @erikjbrown.bsky.social By the end of it, I feel like the safest part of this apocalypse is the the end of this story. I hope it continues. I think I'll actually miss Jamie and Alex.

All That's Left in the World by Erik J. Brown. What can I say about this book to explain how good it is. There's not many books I've read more than once, but this is one of them. Does the idea on a global apocalypse bring you peace, and enjoy queer romance. Then this is the book for you.

I dunno if I would say this is light. But the scenes aren't any worse than any found in some common religious books or some kids movies. And we kids get exposed to those all the time.
Still a good time here with this one. There's a second book I haven't got yet.

Alex Wise vs. The End of the World is a fun read. Its YA even younger maybe. Alex comes to grips with his queer identity, rejection of a parent, new family, new friends, jealousy, and homophobia all while saving the world from an apocalypse. Lots of nerdy references. I think many will ID with Alex๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š

๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ“š I finished The Bloodright series of 3 books. It was interesting enough to finish, though a little predictable in its unfolding. There's plenty of queer characters to enjoy. The sci-fi aspect seems to be a minor setting against the story. But if you like sci-fi its worth trying queer scifi is rare
