If the Republicans senate changed the bill, it would have to go back to the house, where it has virtually no chance of passing, then back to the same divided senate, and then to Trump where it would die. There are not enough votes to overturn a veto.

For the last month, Democrats have said “Are you sure you want to gut Medicare and remove ACA subsidies?” and the Republicans have said that is their goal to the point of burning down the house they live in.

Some folks are saying the Democrats caved and we got nothing in return. True, we got nothing passed in legislation but we still have a majority rule policy in government. We don’t have a majority party wise. The filibuster is a circuit breaker that forces the majority to rethink a position.
