Another illustration that NYTs default position is normalizing authoritarianism. Once you accept that NYT is a deeply facist and authoritarian the paper makes sense

I feel like there was an era in the 90s/00's when "AIIIIII!" was a common sound effect in comics for people screaming in pain. So yeah, I still read it that way and it feels fitting.

Williams’s book is impaired by slapdash prose. His writing abounds with interminable, convoluted sentences that teem with digressions and then awkwardly limp toward disorienting conclusions. Here is one from the prologue:

For non-whites, even though the mixed-race population has become the fastest-growing segment of the American demos and, in real terms, a disproportionate but statistically small and decreasing number of unarmed Black civilians were killed by police annually (typically between 15 and 25 per year from a population exceeding 40 million, according to The Washington Post’s β€œFatal Force” database) β€” and indeed other quality-of-life markers have been equalizing for significant numbers of Black people since the civil rights movement β€” the death of [Trayvon] Martin followed by [Michael] Brown (regardless of the specific contingencies of that case), and a high-profile slate of videotaped police and vigilante killings that converged with the proliferation of camera-equipped smartphones and the pervasiveness of social media, thwarted any self-congratulatory sense of the inevitability of social progress still alive in the first half of Obama’s second administration.
Huh? In addition to such passages, β€œSummer of Our Discontent” includes many distended excerpts β€” some spanning three pages β€” from not-so-obscure sources, including The Times.

Midway through the book, Williams chides another writer on the race beat for propounding β€œan excruciatingly simplistic tale, fueled by a powerful unwillingness and incapacity to grapple with contemporary American racial and social complexity.” Regrettably, I know the feeling.

Sir, men AND women want to get laid. The difference between the sexes is that women are socialized to deal with rejection better and so they don’t get angry when men don’t want to fuck them. Men are socialized to believe they are entitled to sex, and when they don’t get it, it’s the fault of women.

It's a list of jobs that techno fascists don't think are worthwhile or meaningful and that they want to eliminate.

BROWN

5. Addressing government requirements for "male" and
"female" defnitions for athletics and on-campus housing,
as well as limits on gender-affirming care

As we have for decades, Brown has agreed to abide by Title
IX and NCAA eligibility rules regarding the participation of
transgender athletes in intercollegiate sports. We also
committed that the University will continue to provide
housing and restroom access in a way that allows for gender-
inclusive, women-only and men-only options.

The agreement also states, The University will not perform
gender reassignment surgery or prescribe puberty blockers
or hormones to any minor child for the purpose of aligning
the child's appearance with an identity that differs from his or
her sex."' The University will refer affected students who seek
care from Student Health Services or the University
Pharmacy to area specialists. The agreement does not affect
medical teaching or training, and does not apply to clinical
services provided by health systems that are separate entities
from Brown, such as Brown University Health and Care New
England.

We remain fully commited to serving the health needs of all
Brown students in a manner consistent with our long-
established policy of nondiscrimination, which includes sex,
gender identity and gender expression. The LGBTQ Center,
Student Health and Wellness Services, and other offices in
the Division of Campus Life, as well as the Warren Alpert

Brown University is caving to Trump.

They are banning trans women from female bathrooms, dorms, locker rooms, and sports across campus. They're also cracking down on trans care for minors, though that is unlikely to be broadly impactful since it's a university.
