Ok. Iโ€™m doing it. Getting back into running.
I have a long way to go but looking forward to running a 5k together in Amsterdam at Rails World, in Bucharest at @friendlyrb.com, and in Vaiana do Castello at @eurukoconf.bsky.social

This IOCCC winner entry (International Obfuscated C Code Contest) made me smile. The code draws the current moon phase to the console.

A tip for remote teams of 2-10 people. Create a personal โ€œramblingsโ€ channel for each teammate in your teamโ€™s chat app of choice.

Ramblings channels let everyone share whatโ€™s on their mind without cluttering group channels. Think of them as personal journals or microblogs inside your teamโ€™s chat app, a lightweight way to add ambient social cohesion.

People typically post short updates 1-3 times per week. Common topics include:

- ideas related to current projects
- musings about blog posts, articles, user feedback
- โ€œwhat ifโ€ suggestions
- photos from recent trips or hobbies
- rubber ducking a problem

Each ramblings channel should be named after the team member, and only that person can post top-level messages. Others can reply in threads, but not start new ones.

All the ramblings channels should be in a Ramblings section at the bottom of the channel list. They should be muted by default, with no expectation that anyone else will read them.

We started experimenting with ramblings at Obsidian two years ago, and theyโ€™ve been surprisingly sticky. We have no scheduled meetings, so ramblings are our equivalent of water cooler talk. We want as much deep focus time as possible, so ramblings help us stay connected while minimizing interruptions.

Because they are so free and loose, some of our best ideas emerge from ramblings. Theyโ€™re often the source of feature ideas, small prototypes, and creative solutions to long-standing problems.

About once a year, we do a week-long in-person meetup. Ramblings have been one successful way we keep the human connection going throughout the rest of the year.

Blueskyโ€™s age verification is now live in the UK. You wonโ€™t be able to access DMs until you complete it, if you access Bluesky from a UK IP address. You have to verify using a credit card or a face scan

Ruby 3.2.9 Released

Ruby 3.2.9 has been released. This version includes fixes for build failure of GCC 15.1 and VS 2022 17.14.
www.ruby-lang.org/en/news/2025...
I recommend to update 3.3 or 3.4 instead of this version if you didn't have any issues with Ruby 3.2 because Ruby 3.2 will be EOL at Mar/Apr 2026. #ruby

I didn't really know about the active-hash gem before and now it has become one of my favorite gems. If you need an ActiveRecord kind of class but not backed up by a database table. For example Countries or in my case a list of integrations.

You can simply add them in a yml file like this.

I belive there is a market for people/bussines who want to run things without dealing with ops themselves

those might not be your your target audience, and indeed telebugs looks simple to install

Recruitment emails are increasingly AI-generated. Hereโ€™s an example of an โ€œAI recruiterโ€ service (pretending to be human fwiw!) scraping my LinkedIn, and sending a personalized email based on it.

What they got wrong is I listed TravelPerk on my LI but never worked there as a dev

Friendly.rb just won the gold medal in Olympic Procrastination (Video Publishing category).

Between us being lazy, a hard drive failure and recovery, and then the video crew taking on too many jobs, we got seriously delayed.

But now they are here ๐Ÿ˜ป

An interesting table with European languages and the number of phonemes they have: www.eupedia.com/linguistics/...
Lithuanian has the most, with 59 phonemes (!!!), but what blows my mind is Danish, with 32 *vowels*! ๐Ÿคฏ Spanish has 5 vowels! ๐Ÿ˜† And just 25 phonemes. Only Greek has fewer phonemes.
