Lots of noise out there, I think a lot of the technology is a huge distraction if it doesn’t have a direct impact on my work/deeper understanding in my field.

More. More. More.

Being selective on what you take on in life (personally and professionally) is absolutely key to being content. You don’t have to take on β€˜more’. Take on more of what you value that brings you peace and satisfied your ambition.

First page screenshot of an academic article titled "Attention as an object of knowledge, intervention and valorisation: exploring data-driven neurotechnologies and imaginaries of intensified learning" by Dimitra Kotouza, Martyn Pickersgill, Jessica Pykett & Ben Williamson. Abstract: Innovations in mobile neuromonitoring and brain–computer interfaces are increasingly used to inform understandings of human brains and behaviours while also catalysing imaginaries of neuroscientifically measured and enhanced economic productivity. In this paper, we focus on neurotechnologies that claim to capture, monitor, measure and train learners’ attention. We analyse a corpus of relevant scientific, governance, and commercial texts to explore how they reconfigure learners’ attention as an object of knowledge, intervention, and valorisation. We demonstrate that outcomes-driven neuroscience research and technological development tends to split attention into optimal and undesirable forms: externally versus internally oriented, and synchronised versus unsynchronised with others, which become the variables of intervention to optimise attention. Commercial wearables, in turn, envelop desirable forms of attention under logics of brain control, social discipline, and valorisation. This process is enacted within an international context of speculation on neurotechnology investments and their anticipated outcome of enhancing future human productivity. Circumscribing desirable forms of learner attention and subjectivity, these technologies provide expanded means to mould and monitor learners’ attention towards performativity regimes of economised education governance while enabling profit-making based on learners’ activity.

Led by Dimitra Kotouza, it explores how student "attention" has been conceived by neuroscience as an object of intervention and a source of value via neurotechnologies doi.org/10.1080/1750...

I don’t want to build AI solutions. I want to leverage them without a doubt though. Locally. Securely.

Always appreciate when people in life put things into perspective

Especially when that perspective comes from a general want for happiness and health 🀟🏼

Ok… so for Swift #iOSDevs - I know root structure can impact deployment - but the package.swift has thrown me big time..

Why do I have to place everything under two folders? Isn’t that redundant? Or am I being dumb? #DevQuestion #HelpPlease

Someone once told me I know too much and not enough at the same time 🫠

Why I’m looking to extend vertically down learning analytics specifically and become a specialist. Knowing some things some of the times is great for leadership (in my opinion) but I want to make an impact to be a leader 🀟🏻

But what if I like my bugs πŸ₯Ή

I definitely like that aspect so far, but I guess I’m just in the mindset of correcting my bugs AFTER I make ALL of them πŸ’€ big exaggeration but feels way too real right now lol

I’m VERY fortunate I’ve found a partner who’s in an adjacent market for me to immediately dive into some profiles to normalize data and really start understanding that complexity ..

These legacy solutions do AMAZING work - but I think a good market shake will be a great thing for everyone #edtech

Solutions like Water Shed and Learning Locker are powerhouses … but to say they are interoperable, well I guess it depends on their acceptance criteria! πŸ˜…

It’s SO expensive to set up for some systems, costs money to set up pipelines out and to data lakes, doesn’t work with all LMS… etc

27.12.2024 12:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

A huge goal for myself is to really explore the complexity in interoperability.. I mean this is the GOAL for most following the LRS path.

And I strongly feel it falls extremely short in most cases. I love and respect what’s been done in the past - (it’s literally inspired me) but MAN

Starting with an Apple forward build feels extremely restrictive… and like I have to ignore a portion of the people I’m building for intentionally.. - however, I am starting to look at angles I normally wouldn’t when considering interconnectivity options πŸ₯΄

As I continue to dig into the ever going problems/pain points with learning records in education

There are some GREAT solutions for really niche EdTech problems… why does it feel so far that a lot miss the mark or simply don’t aim for connectivity? Or normalization of data?
