I’m a Luddite when it comes to adopting new platforms, so I’ve only recently gotten on to TicTok. My weirdest takeaway is that, for whatever reason (on the creative vs consumer side), it feels more like peak Facebook than any other social media I’ve been on for almost a decade (FB, YT, TWT, BS). 1/2

Honestly, I think that the poverty line being artificially low for the last 30 years has probably contributed disproportionately to Rs staying in power in the South. Can you imagine the body blow it would be to the R base to learn that they’ve *also* been in poverty this whole time?

I think Looper was less ambitious and, as I recall, trusted the audience to understand time travel better than the Lazarus Project does. I think it benefited from the shorter format (movie vs 8ep series), which allowed for more consistent world building, theme, and character development. 2/3

Maybe that’s my problem? I’m better versed in TV/film time travel, but I did really like Looper. It was what first cemented my appreciation for Rian Johnson (specifically bc of how he handled themes around masculinity—which he’s done fairly often and quite well since). 1/3

There’s something about this show that expects that all participants (viewers, characters, creators) have avoided every other depiction of time travel in science fiction history.
