While I've never worried about myself (either because of my stupidity or because idc if someone leaks stuff/comes after me, u decide :P) it was really really tough to watch amazing ppl worry about actions that could be taken against them

When this happened, there was so much panic behind the scenes that never saw the public eye. Many TOs no longer felt safe running their events, knowing that there was intentional harm done to try and attack the SSC, that does all of its volunteer work to help in keeping the scene safer, and TOs.

Unfortunately I think like 1-2 months in advance

Anyway I move to campus tomorrow and I have a lot of work I need to do between now and Monday. How’s y’all’s schedule looking like this upcoming week?

And then ofc the marketing I don’t feel like is towards new spectators so it would need to work on that. They know their event better and I don’t know much about it anymore. Just don’t feel qualified to say any more

I haven’t watched a low ink since S3 came out ngl. For their showout and stream value I would say it’s solid but still think there could be room for heavy improvement.
I don’t feel qualified enough to talk on it tbh but they need more people to tell stories. That’s what hooks the people to care

But yeah I can see where AZ was a terrible example. I just can’t think of any better event, especially online event. /gen Splat LAN Champ probs best we had in decent time and probs a better example since it is more spec based

Hindsight I do think az was not the example to use but I couldn’t think of anything better. Maybe Lan Champ Showdown would be a better one but it’s hard because no other event for online can really compare imo

With how you described it the Htown marketing would be good for online events and would be willing to agree for that as a reference for online events. In the context of LANs, AZ does it better because they try to sell the experience of the area to get people there.

Ok I think that’s where we disagree. For a LAN event, in person experience should be the main thing promoted and focused towards with stream mostly being secondary. You’re trying to sell the experience to go and you try to give people what they want there with stream mostly for visibility.

LANs have a different marketing strategy bc they want people to show up with stream being secondary as they want their target to show up in person. Online events should focus more on stream spectators since their main audience should watch the event online

Not saying htown does it bad at all for reference! I just don’t pay attention to their spectator and marketing strategy to give a say on htown. I just see az doing it best *from what I look at and pay attention to* with direct audience goals

Sunset surge is marketing directly to Arizona fellows, which is their target audience. Similar for our community our target should be for viewership. As mentioned I don’t pay attention to htown so I can’t speak on that so az is the best thing I can give as a reference

You have to cater to them enough to return to the event but we don’t have to cater the entire competitive scene to exactly what they want. Spectators are being left behind with boring content which turns especially new people away

I have been too. I just need people to listen and understand because this is no longer enjoyable for me to just sit back

While I don’t think it should be in every event, I do think some of our events that we want more viewers spectators from should include some rotation with tw to make it easier for newer viewers to view the game and not fully excluding them since most casual viewers don’t know much about ranked modes

I’ll be honest, I don’t pay attention to H-town since I plan on not going to Texas (it’s too hot lol) but I do think AZ does the best with it from what I pay attention to. Market to the community, build around the area, need to work on getting more specs from the area tho
