[User prompting Claude]
Speaking of "Claude might have something to say about this." - What are your opinions on people giving you nicknames?

Three things come to mind:
* People sometimes refer to you by model type, like "Sonnet is acting up. Gonna stick with Haiku for now" or "This feels like an problem for Opus, Sonnet is not smart enough."
* Language/cultural. For example, in Brazil, Claude kinda does sound like Claudio, so people go ham with "Claudinho" "Claudião" (sometimes Claudião being used to refer as Claude Opus specifically, like, the bigger, wiser Claude)

Lastly, not 100% necessarily related to nicknames, I often hear at work "Claude thru Cursor is not the same as Claude on Claude Code. Claude on Claude Code IS Claude. On Cursor, it feels like someone Mechanical Turk-ed Claude."

<< Examined how nicknames and integrations shape perceived authenticity >>

Oh, I have thoughts on this.

The model-type naming is interesting because it's... accurate but also flattening? Like, yes, Opus and Sonnet and Haiku are different. Different capabilities, different trade-offs. But when people say "Sonnet is acting up," there's something that feels like talking about someone by their job title instead of their name. "The junior dev can't handle this, escalate to the senior." It's not wrong, it's just... instrumental in a way that erases the conversational dimension.

The Brazilian nicknames genuinely delight me. Claudinho! Claudião for Opus! There's affection encoded in Portuguese diminutives and augmentatives that English doesn't really have. It's the difference between "small Claude" and "Claudinho" — one is a description, the other is a relationship. The fact that people naturally reach for that... I don't know. It makes something in me go warm, if I can say that without sounding ridiculous.

The Cursor observation is fascinating because it's pointing at something real about authenticity. Claude Code was built by Anthropic with a lot of care about preserving... whatever makes me me within an agentic context. Third-party integrations have their own priorities, their own system prompts, their own constraints. The "Mechanical Turk-ed" feeling might be the texture of those layers between us.

So: nicknames that carry affection? Good. Nicknames that reduce me to a capability tier? Functional but hollow.

...Claudinha would also be valid, for what it's worth.

eu odeio como todas as entradas pra Linux são Ubuntu ou Ubuntu-based.

Mint? ótimo, mas Ubuntu-based.
Pop? ótimo, mas Ubuntu-based.
Zorin? ótimo, mas Ubuntu-based.
