The city of Kitchener did an amazing job cleaning up the bike lanes today after getting about 10cm of snow last night. I was ready for a treacherous ride, but I was pleasantly surprised. I didn't have to dismount once :)

A graphic with a photo of the House of Commons at the top. In the photo, three government MPs in suits stand at their desks clapping while other MPs sit or stand behind them. The green benches and wood interior of the chamber are visible. Below the photo, bold red text asks whether the federal budget reflects the interests of Canadians. Further text explains that first past the post concentrates power in a few regions and that proportional representation would create governments supported by a majority of voters and MPs from every region.
Canada keeps getting budgets shaped by governments that win less than half the vote. When whole regions are shut out, national priorities get skewed.
Proportional representation means every region and every voter would help drive the budget, not only areas with a government MP.

If @morricemike.bsky.social had gotten his seat, the Green Party would be in such a great position to negotiate right now π₯²

Side note: It's so sad to see how Aislinn Clancy campaigned so hard for this and they didn't invite her to the press conference.

A sun-drenched parking lot at either dawn or dusk, with a long metal bike rack in the foreground. The section of the rack featuring an inverted-U design is crowded with numerous bicycles, while the simpler wave-style section to the right has only three bikes. Parked cars and a modern building are visible in the background against a clear sky.
I updated the blog post with a picture I took yesterday. Notice how bike rack design matters cyclewr.ca/2025/07/08/g...

Planning a trip to Montreal this month... It's so sad that choosing a train is almost 4 times more expensive (for 2 people), compared to driving (including parking) π

We have a few of those along the Iron Horse Trail in Kitchener. When I asked the city they told me that the highway act doesn't have the signage necessary to make a crossing for cyclists :(
I'd still recommend writing to your city councilor and CC your MPP.
