I'm trying to explain to you that some of the people who refused to vote for Kamala were Palestinians, and the reason they refused to vote for Kamala is because her "policy", as you put it, was to allow their genocide to continue while she was in a position to stop it.

Gavin Newsom just said he supports a bill banning trans athletes from competing in California. Anyone still defending him now is asking trans people to sacrifice their rights to "stop Trump".

But none of them are willing to give up any of THEIR rights to "stop Trump". Only other people's. Hmmmm.

Game mechanics shouldn't be a thing you can patent in the first place. Imagine if someone tried to patent the concept of parkour in platformers, reloading guns in a shooter, etc.

Understandable! I just find it frustrating because I love so many of these UBs, and they're so much more diverse than these sets show.

I also loved how LOTR wasn't just "here's Viggo Mortensen on a card" but rather MTG's take on LOTR. And it just feels like that's no longer the goal. :/

By comparison, Frodo has 4. Sam has 2. Legolas 3. Even Aragorn only gets up to 5, and that feels a bit excessive.

I think having a few versions of a character for storytelling is fine. 2-3 is reasonable for that purpose. Maybe even 4 (one per season).

Again, I want to be clear, I think #MTGxATLA looks a lot better than the recent Spider-Man set was.

But I'm disappointed that UB is starting to feel less like a unique interpretation of an alternate world and its lore (ala LOTR) and more like a template that WotC is copy/pasting memberberries into.

IMO, the ideal way to design UB would be making sure that no two UB sets feel the same.

But the last several UB sets have all contained at least the above three things.

There are five Aangs in Scryfall and I believe we saw art for at least two others. That's seven cards of the same character, WITHOUT considering border variations. No set should ever have seven versions of the same person.

Hei Bai is a neat green creature who can tutor a Shrine, but because they wanted to make him an ideal Commander card, he also has a tacked-on WUBRG activated ability just so he can be played as a Shrine commander. He could've just been a cool and flavorful tutor, he didn't need to be WUBRG!

General thoughts on the #MTGxATLA set are mostly positive!

That said, IMO Universes Beyond sets are getting too formulaic.

Every UB set nowadays seems to have 4+ versions of each character, commander staple reprints with lazy screenshots of the source material, a token WUBRG commander, etc.

They really have absolutely nothing to use as a weapon against Mamdani now that fear of the word "socialism" has begun to die off, and it's pissing them off so much rofl

A primary responsibility of a political party is the political education of the electorate. When neoliberal Democratic Party leaders blame the electorate for their own failures by saying voters are too craven or stupid to vote for them, the deficiencies to which they point are of their own making.

There's this attitude among some Democrats/liberals that everything is the fault of the voters. We really need to dump that shitty energy.

When one candidate gets more votes than the other and still loses, you can't blame the voters for that one. That's the system's fault.

And now the Republicans regularly leverage our broken system, including the Senate, to prevent any form of societal progress.

I dunno, sure seems like the problem is less with voters and more the fact this "perfect system" the Founding Fathers made is actually pretty fucking broken.

Our government was specifically built this way to preserve the institution of slavery. The House had its 3/5ths Rule, but the Senate granted additional insulation, as there were more slave states than free in the 1780s. And slave owners leveraged that "balance" all the way up to the Civil War.
