Lola is the writer of our third country, where a mountain range thrust up from the middle of the country during the Great Cataclysm as a rift split the sky, pouring a perpetual torrent of salt water. 1907 years later, the salt water continues to flow.

So in love with this map! @salvaterra.bsky.social was fantastic to work with at every step of this process. It was so amazing to see him bring all my sources of inspiration together into one beautiful, cohesive piece. I still can’t believe that we get to have such amazing maps for our project!

And there’s so many ways it could go. Maybe the box is a supercomputer that drove the previous civilisation to destroy itself, or maybe it contained an interstellar parasite that they brought back for their own studies. But I love the idea of the silent, dead planet, and the crew being stalked.

Hilariously, I blame the Simpsons for giving me the horror idea of giant insects in space. There’s something so delicious about a species that is truly so alien that there’s nothing you can say or do to communicate or influence them in that way.

I feel like it’s one you could easily do as a group campaign, but it would also lend itself really well to a solo player rpg. 👀 For example, it ups the tensions at each location as the player has to watch part of their army getting decimated by each alien creature.
