Finished 1/27. Short and sweet. Does a good job getting you to care about the main cast in few pages and now I’m on the hunt for vegan biang biang noodles.

I’m honestly impressed with myself for not binging the whole series a couple years ago. I know I’ll be bummed out when I get to the end, so I’m taking my sweet time working through them all. Especially despite the cliffhanger in Caliban.

Finished 1/26. Audio narration on this is stellar. I enjoyed the plot and characters enough to want to dive into the sequel as soon as it publishes. I have questions I want answered.

This week I’ll finish Automatic Noodle by Annalee Newitz and The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by SA Chakraborty. And then whatever Libby hold comes available next!

Babel!!!!!!!

I enjoyed it! Magical forbidden forest, dark vibes, respecting nature through fear. Really good stuff. The ending wasn’t to my liking and didn’t fit the vibe, but the rest of it was enjoyable. Easy to finish in a day!

Finished 1/24. Glad for its length. It was captivating until the end. Still not sure what to make of its conclusion, but I know I didn’t care for it.

This is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

I went to ICE rapid response training today, organized by my wonderful city council member @hugoforcd13.bsky.social. I strongly recommend finding a group to join in your area. We keep us safe.

Does the narrator change for each installment?

I felt the same! Most of the time I was really invested, but there were moments when my mind would wander. Overall, I think it was pretty solid storytelling.

The first in the series is one of my favorite of all time! I also appreciate that each one is a standalone so I don’t feel rushed to move on to the next one immediately and can take my time.
