I started this painting earlier this year but had only painted the cat and bird. I found it while sorting my works on paper and have been working on it off and on for about a week. It is gouache on hot press watercolor paper.

How many people die before they can even begin to collect what they’ve put in? Neither my mom nor best friend collected a dime. They aren’t the only ones.

Of course some are in my county. (Sigh)

I chose the giraffe page because I remember loving giraffes when I was a kid. This is something that can brighten someone’s day.

When there was the baby formula shortage a few years ago, commissaries still had it (Stars and Stripes reported this at the time ). I can’t even imagine if they hadn’t been a resource for military families.

That’s diabolical.

Our local car dealer has a country song written for their Hyundai dealership and it sounds like they’re playing it at 11 even when our tv is turned way down. I’ve gotten used to hitting the mute button as soon as the first notes play

The Barnes and Noble by Blick moved buildings earlier this year and overall I preferred the smaller space bc their periodical section is awful at the new one and trying to find anything is an exercise in frustration. But today they had Mother Horror’s new book on a front facing endcap so, yay!

The wrappers make the best gum wrapper chains. We also had three different flavors of ice cream gum that had good wrappers. Happy memories :)

My friend has been making small silverpoint drawings. This would be beautiful in that technique as well

For some reason I’m reminded of the episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer , “Band Candy”. The adults are dosed with candy that makes them all act irresponsibly so the bad guys can carry out their bad guy plot. The next day we find out that Giles and Joyce hooked up and Giles made love like a stevedore

I had bookmarked it over there but since I closed out my account earlier this year I have no idea who the author was or if they are here. If the story sounds familiar to any of y’all can you help? It was written as though it was really happening.

Three years ago in October, someone made a multi post, multi day thread on the bird app. It was so compelling and helped take my mind off of all the work I was enmeshed in while closing my dad’s estate. It involved a staircase in the woods and tall figures with gaping maws that followed her home. 1/

I’ve been rewatching the Coen Bros filmography this month and while drawing a Barton Fink illustration, it struck me how much their films feel like Far Side cartoons: funny, strange, clever, yet frequently inscrutable. Anyway here’s a thread!

Art monographs are all in color except if the original photo was taken in black and white. And many are under $100. Same for the art magazines that are still being published. Color illustrations for everyone.

Aw man. Is it allergies, blepheritis, or something else? My optometrist recommended washing my eyes with a cotton wipe and baby shampoo. I can’t wear any eye makeup with pink or purple in it
