How broken is today's frontend culture?
A friend points out that the median *mobile* page is now larger than a copy of DOOM (2.6 MiB vs. 2.48 MiB), the 75th percentile page is more than 2 DOOMs, and the P90 mobile page is 4.5x the size of DOOM:

Message on the blink-dev mailing list: "Hi everyone, Since JPEG XL was last evaluated, Safari has shipped support and Firefox has updated their position. We also continue to see developer signals for this in bug upvotes, Interop proposals, and survey data. There was also a recent announcement that JPEG XL will be added to PDF. Given these positive signals, we would welcome contributions to integrate a performant and memory-safe JPEG XL decoder in Chromium. In order to enable it by default in Chromium we would need a commitment to long-term maintenance. With those and our usual launch criteria met, we would ship it in Chrome. #gamedev PSA: #Steam recently changed how review score is calculated. Previously it was a global average. Since this August, the score a user sees is based off the reviews in the user's language. So there's less risk to localise to languages with lower than average rating habits:

The new godot UI theme has been merged and is on its way to be the new default!
I consider godot to be one of the most important software projects of our time and it's a huge privilege to be able to contribute to it. Happy to see it grow and be used for increasingly ambitious games and apps ❤️
