thank you !
I too am leaning towards muted colors. The vibrance gives too much.....bloom ? Wonder what it would be like with a bit more transparency.
I'll test it out in time.

Programmer learning to art. Making a prototype : Mini Metros x Slipways.
thank you !

My current twitter banner that's a mockup of what I want the prototype to be. Has a "multiply" filter on the foreground texture.
Has a "color burn" filter on the foreground texture.
Week 1 of an artstyle : Made a banner in the artstyle I want. This is a mockup of what I want the ingame stuff to look like.
Not sure how good it is.
Used two filters. Not sure how they compare. Like both.

I too have been wondering whether to go hex or squares. Interesting tradeoffs, honestly.

An icon made from the city reference image on the left. It is a square that contains the a hex cutout. The cutout has a skyline and 2 clouds inside it.
Day 5 of art stuff : Made a city icon. Planning on animating it at some point if I get the time.
As usual, reference on left, image on right.
New York or Ankara would be fun. Will make later. Let me know if you'd like me to make one for a city you like.

I liked a couple of others too, but I like this AND can do some version of it.
An anchor symbol inside a green circle that itself is in a square light green frame. It has a paper cutout aesthetic. Does anybody read these ? I don't mind writing them, though I will add a few more jokes if anyone is.
Day 4 of artstyles : Ditching pixel art for now. Like the paper cutout style a lot more for prototype. Interesting aesthetic.
My current pfp. Maybe convert this to pixel art later ?

I have just discovered bluesky images don't support gifs.
Damn. Here's the gif

The reference image comes from here. I initially angled it top down like the truck, but if it's a mini metros style icon, that doesn't exactly work. Not sure if the truck works either in general. Zooming out kinda breaks it.

A low detail voxel factory with a red tipped chimney and blue windows.
Day 3 of art styles for the demo : This time it's a pixel art factory with a basic animation. As always, reference on the left, pixel art on the right.
Initially used a different model, but it was too detailed, so had to NOT use it.

Yellow voxel truck from an angled sideview. Kind of looks like a garbage truck, honestly.
Pixel art truck with an angled side view. It's red and has cargo in the back. I like this better than yesterdays.
Day 2 of art styles. Another pixel art truck, though angled this time. Like yesterday, reference on the left, pixel art on the right. Changed some colors this time.

is the original model.
A low poly voxel truck without any cargo.
A red pixel art truck made on a 32x32 canvas. It has a shadow underneath it as a grey rectangle. I have to admit, the grey rectangle works as a shadow way better than I expected.
Learning to make some pixel art, because trying out different art styles for my prototype.
