In the bad old days I would take my work laptop on family holidays and wait until the kids and wife went to bed - then work for 4/5 hrs. Several times I flew back to London for meetings before returning next day. Thankfully those bosses, and that job, are now long gone.

Free breakfast clubs are boosting attendance and improving behavior in some schools according to head teachers. There is no doubting this policy has been a huge success for Labour in its first year in government

The right has gone absolutely nuts. The Tory party is chewed up with its brexity failure and the prejudice ticket that once gave it power. Reform’s rise from their ashes is the toxic aftermath. And the media dance along like it’s all so exciting, rather than a goddam nightmare for us all.

I am well aware of how the budgeting system works in the UK.

It is obvious to see that the current govt is the only option and i want it to succeed. No other parties are viable and neither is yesterdays man Corbyn.

As i said before its a longer term plan.

I suspect you would not agree with anything i say, anyway. But hey ho, you’re stuck with Starmer for another 4 years.

That assumes a certain amount of trust tory handling of the status, risk profile etc of the whole debacle. It was absolutely correct to hold position and get a report (Rimmer) completed first. I have absolutely no issue with the Labour handling of this.

The FT has published an editorial attacking taxes on the wealthy, and saying we must keep those threatening to leave, come what may. They're horribly wrong. If pandering to tax abuse is the price of keeping the wealthy, we should show them the door. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/07...

The Lib Dems have reported the BBC to Ofcom for giving "undue prominence" to Reform UK in its coverage of the UK-France deal yesterday

Reform's momentum is making the political weather Nigel Farage's party has seen four recent defections from the Tories, with Labour reshaping its approach in response

This piece is everything that is wrong about the BBC's political coverage:

Zero commentary on policy or substance, maximum gossipy coverage of fluff.

Not at all surprising that it was penned by Chris Mason.

But are Reform really β€œmaking the political weather” as you, so uncritically say, Chris Mason, or are you making it for them by hyperventilating over each grubby little Tory-Reform-reshuffle, without *ever* properly scrutinising the howling failures of these deeply unpleasant, grifting clowns?

Reform has lost 11 councillors and 2 MPs in a matter of months… and when I say β€˜lost’ I mean, they’ve quit following rows, impropriety or inability to do their jobs.
So, if Brexit weren’t proof enough, then this barrelling shitshow should confirm forever that they should be nowhere near govt.

Tell me why haven’t the press picked up on the rebranded Sure Starts?

Why haven’t they commented on Reform’s MP who removed the whip from himself?

Why aren’t they talking about the highest business confidence in 9 years?

Why are they still on about Reeves tears?

They’re poisonous!

I fear they're becoming a mouthpiece for Nigel Farage, a guy who wants to destroy them.

Yes. Britain’s economy was grenaded by the Tories and their ruinous Brexit ideology… peddled furiously as a β€˜win’ by right wing papers like that one. Don’t now try to claim it’s the last 12 months that’s done it. We’ve been watching the whole time.

So 4 things we learned about #Farage this week :

Highest paid MP thanks to his 11 jobs outside Parliament;
Receives the highest value of gifts.
Among the worst attendees in the Commons.
Barely in his 'constituency'.

A conman, grifter, fraudster.

In it for him, not for you.

Sultana voted in 2020 that MPs who change their party affiliation should be recalled. Although being suspended from the Labour whip for 12 months creates something of a grey area for her. Affiliated Unite union is donating cash to her. It has questions to answer.

Brexit a 'disaster' that 'ruined the country' - referendum 'should be repeated' On the ninth anniversary of the day the UK voted to leave the EU, we asked readers to have their say on whether Brexit has been a success - and Mirror readers had a lot to say on the matter.
