twas a winter rain
not yet cold enough to
snow the pitter the patter
muffled the sound of tears
the suffering of the many
drizzled the pain of scism
the helpless and the unsheltered
cast aside as the formula for policy
power instead of principle
winter rain part 2
the familiar form of do unto others
the salty liquid of distress
provided no relief
from vengeful delusion
from the goose
first he tore it down
next he wore it down
then he shut it down
consuming the bitter root
through the palate of awareness
challenged by bait shyness
we tried to digest

Being a friend part 1
we pulled the red wagon to both back doors
a few houses apart
and collected all the empty
glass soda bottles to cash them in to the market
it was a summer Tuesday
we took our money to the drug store
and waited for the comic books wrapped in string

to be opened and drank sodas, ice cold from the cooler;
I remember the shelter of innocence
and being a friend
and as in many cases in families and communities
an important question is, what is the most humane
and respectful way to intervene to reduce the
destructive outcomes of appeasement and enabling?

hearing the echoes of ghosts
ringing like bells
suffering the lifelong desires
deeper than the deepest wells,
haunting
before the dawn
blue sky hidden
below earthbound
soul searchers
living with uncertainty
stroll heel to toe
in worn out shoes
bending the notes
of strings with
calloused fingers
under streetlights
in some city

the artist must continue
despite of and in the midst of
all circumstance
independent of immediate
or eventual acceptance
discovering the nuance
living the novelty
discovered through the practice
and learnings of the expression

language lingering on the edge of
the unsmoothed formulation
waves wash willful wonder
with wide winsomeness
a visit with an Eagle
each thought they were alone
paused in quiet repose
then the great bird arose
wings spread in misty air
showing there is still a way
heart full once more
solitude the restoration
of the kindred
defying inertia

that's why the forces against change only appear
to prevail
for the unintended consequence of silencing
and suppressing progress and growth
is to make it more compelling
and necessary, even amidst suffering.

once recognized as only one measure
of consciousness may make room for
the application of creative resources to
bridge to the inner realm
and suggest actions

The First Amendment comes first:

but the monetization of systemic ethnocentric control,
with officially sanctioned if methodically flawed practices.

the trouble with keeping apprized of
