β€œI think people should know that research that they probably would support is being canceled,” said Eden Tanner, a chemist at the University of Mississippi... "β€œI would like to cure brain cancer,” Dr. Tanner said. β€œI think that's not particularly controversial.”

My quote of the day

Instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle for where we're going. There's something ahead worth fighting for.

Trump’s Cuts to Science Funding Could Hurt U.S. Economy, Study Shows (Gift Article) Reducing federal support for research and development could cause long-run economic damage and reduce government revenue.

β€œCutting federal funding for scientific research could cause long-run economic damage equivalent to a major recession.

A 50% reduction would lower GDP 7.6%. A 75% cut would reduce it 11.3% β€” a larger decline than in any recession since the Great Depression.

University leaders need to understand: they are holding INCREDIBLY good cards.

It is so rare in today's polarized era to have the support of 70+ percent of the public against the Trump admiministration on anything. Universities have thatβ€”AND winning legal arguments.
