White House considers funding advantage for colleges that align with Trump policies The proposal has the potential to transform the government’s vast research funding operation, which has long awarded university grants based on scientific merit.

"Alignment" (aka fealty) is not a merit-review criteria.

If ideology determines outcomes, our world-class federally funded research system will reward apparatchiks and loyalists while punishing opponents and critics.

And then soon, it won't be world-class.

Judging by the shamefully opportunistic & politicizing rhetoric of some rightwingers on Twitter, & their cynical use of Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder for political point scoring, it’s almost as if Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman wasn’t murdered by a Trump-voting MAGA maniac just 12 weeks ago.

I’ll be holding a phonebank on Thursday to call voters living in swing districts represented by Republicans and asking them to contact their representatives about science funding.

A show of bipartisan support for NIH. Basically flat except for ARPA-H.

The President’s budget proposal basically ignored (as it should have been).

This is good news… for now.

Also immigrants were one of the groups to go more towards Trump in 2024 so we are trying to get them more involved in the political process and activism against Trump!

This is because I’m working with a South Asian organization which gives me the lists of voters to call. There are also a couple of other goals we’re working on - like electing Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and getting establishment Dems to endorse Mamdani
