You can learn a lot from trying to achieve something you have never done before. During that process, the main constraint can shift.
Sometimes it feels like you have gone full circle and are back at square one. Until you realize youβre not...

First time the body took a hit after a long run. Not surprised, as nausea made it impossible to eat or drink in the last 15k
17.03.2025 06:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Learned a lot of things during todays long run / race simulation. Main point is that Iβm fit enough to run 71k in 7h03 (1050m elevation), but that I wouldnβt have finished a 100k today. 10 weeks to go to Passatore

Iβve finally switched from consuming to contributing on Substack.
Together with teammate Bart van der Wal I will share bits and pieces around our journey towards ΓtillΓΆ World Championships

60k run - check
Would I finish Passatore if I had to do it today? Probably.
Would I be able to run the full distance and/or finish sub10h? Highly unlikely.
Fortunately, there are still more than 3 months to go.
Oops, crazy plan #2 has just hatched. Thanks ΓtillΓΆ for awarding us a wildcard!
03.02.2025 08:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sometimes, when I feel like it, one of those easy runs turns into a steady (βzone 2β) run. Maybe once every 14 days, I donβt plan those.
Besides running, I swim 2-3x per week for 1 hour and do a 8β bodyweight circuit every day.
Thatβs it. Boring, right?
Yes, I know I only post details after βextremeβ workouts. But thatβs because the rest is extremely boring.
- I run 4-5x per week.
- Every 14 days I do one LONG run (like today) and one HARD run (5k race or 10-15x60β hill).
- All other runs are 30-60min easy runs, some with strides.
Energy intake between laps only. 900ml water, 1150ml Maurten360, 2 gels and 1 bar.
Lost 1,2kg including 1,8kg total from bathroom breaks, so I guess I drank enough to counter sweat losses today. Not too difficult, as temperature was low (3-7 Celsius).
Another step towards Passatore in the books. 55k long run in BYU-style (7x 7,9km, start every hour) for a total running time of 5h20 and 630m elevation. All run by feel, 50β difference between fastest and slowest lap (5:45 - 5:51/km).
