Cover of Dorothy's book. Top is a pale green background with yellow block writing providing the title of the book: 'They Died with their Boots On' (Thomas Ripley). Underneath is a cowboy on horseback taking aim with a gun at folk standing outside a building in the same yellow and green tones.
I dunno who Dorothy is but I like the spurrs on her boots!
Book is the 1937 edition of 'They Died with their Boots On' by Thomas Ripley.
I just love the look on people's faces.

06.11.2025 10:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you're in this business long enough you'll see:
- People you don't like seeing success
- People who annoy the shit out of you seeing success
- People who are successful despite incredible mediocrity (in your opinion)
You know what? Everyone deserves their success. Just keep working on your own.

"We're working on it now," he said.

What's it going to be called? I'm voting for:

Noon - lunch. 1.00 to 3.00 pm - reading, music. 3.00 to 5.00pm - correspondence, maybe house cleaning. 5.00 to 8.00 pm - make dinner and eat it. After 8.00 pm - I tend to be very stupid and we won't talk about this.
Ursula K Le Guin's schedule - an inspiration to us all.

02.11.2025 06:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So far I have made my family watch Mars Attacks, Annihilation, and Plan 9 From Out of Space for movie night.
On the basis of sheer weird randomness, I'm pretty sure I'm either going to get banned from recommendations, or they are going to get weirder in their movie tastes... Possibly both.
Just make eye contact and finish eating it.
(Also, I too have just learned a new thing. Lol)
We do love our pop culture! ;)

The AI-response "Everything can be faked" discourse interests me partly by how much it leaves out of "everything."
AI might be able to fake a picture of a meal or video of a football match, but it can't fake the experience of eating or playing.
Being embodied seems like a kind of resistance.

All food should be made with love. These weren't. These were pure rage. Bliss balls that taste like vaguely sweet, cocoa, compressed gritty dirt. Sensory hell to make. Stupid attempt at increasing energy. Mana from hell.

Life is too short to read everything.
This is a fact that genuinely stresses me out.
My speaker's bureau would like me to apologize for implying that I eat pets at literary events to help preserve the planet's resources. In fact, I do it because I can. I mean, I don't do that. Ever. At all.
