He is forcing federal law enforcement agencies to do his bidding, all because I did my job as the New York State Attorney General. “These charges are baseless, and the president’s own public statements make clear that his only goal is political retribution at any cost. The president’s actions are a grave violation of our Constitutional order and have drawn sharp criticism from members of both parties. “His decision to fire a United States Attorney who refused to bring charges against me – and replace them with someone who is blindly loyal not to the law, but to the president – is antithetical to the bedrock principles of our country. This is the time for leaders on both sides of the aisle to speak out against this blatant perversion of our system of justice. “I stand strongly behind my office’s litigation against the Trump Organization. We conducted a two-year investigation based on the facts and evidence – not politics. Judges have upheld the trial court’s finding that Donald Trump, his company, and his two sons are liable for fraud. “I am a proud woman of faith, and I know that faith and fear cannot share the same space. And so today I am not fearful, I am fearless, and as my faith teaches me, no weapon formed against me shall prosper. We will fight these baseless charges aggressively, and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights. And I will continue to do my job.”

Like everyone, I hope this is a lasting peace deal. That said, it's pretty disgusting to watch some political journalists trip over each other in competition to muse about a Nobel Peace Prize for a president who is currently deploying troops against American cities, violently weaponizing an apparently unaccountable police force against American citizens, suppressing freedom of the press, shutting down free speech for corporations and campuses to leverage bribery deals, openly threatening and cajoling federal judges, cutting many billions in foreign aid that will lead to millions of deaths globally, engaging in the extrajudicial murder of foreign citizens, placating dictatorial regimes with widely documented human rights abuses, and undermining global stability with third-rate mafia tactics. It's tragic to witness how quickly informed journalists are folding to the fascism materializing in front of us because they don't want to be targeted next.

Very few of these pro-life folks have known folks who died in childbirth and it shows.

My mother was hardcore pro-choice. She came to puberty in the 40s, & grew up in segregated Georgia where Black folks were denied equal healthcare. She knew several women & girls who had died in childbirth.

I spoke to a Venezuelan woman who was arrested in this raid and later released with her 4yo son. She said agents broke down their door, pointed guns at them and made sexualized remarks about Venezuelan women. When she returned to her apartment it was boarded up and all her possessions were gone.
