But 'the site is not within a transport contribution zone'; though there's Β£500K contributions for tram (600+m away).
Even with 4 unsheltered bus stops in walking distance, and 0 stops with RTI screens.

They may well do. We reckon the development will have the 8, 9, 13, 23, 27 in striking distance, but CEC officers seem to think the bus stops are good enough (they aren't).

Missed opportunity to improve city buses
As we all know, money is tight among Councils. In Edinburgh and elsewhere, aspirations to improve bus services compete for funding with other worthwhile services. Bus routes, of course, operate on β¦
We submitted comments, pointing out that adding more residents = an even stronger case for S75 improvements to bus stops...even which there are several, some lacking even basic amenities.
But a quick look suggests absolutely 0 attempt to add this in.

It tells you quite a lot about transport in Midlothian that the Council seems to think a bus bay is a good thing and posts it on Twitter.

To be fair, there's a long and dishonourable tradition of self-proclaimed 'environmental' organisations that say they support new rail infrastructure but campaign against it when it's in their back yard.

Fun fact (allegedly):
A Scotrail DMU could have driven on the tram tracks on Princes St. Though it wouldn't be recommended.
(Yes, we know it would have derailed at the first switch, but that's not the point)

But Haymarket platform 0 is the wrong side for trains from the south without loads of conflicting moves. Good for Fife though, and underused IOHO.
(Wonders about a new bay platform 5 on south side; maybe too short though)
