I still absolutely love, weird and creepy Halloween pins like this. Wear different ones pinned to shirts and jackets this time of year

A few years ago in my town, a couple built this pretty cool wooden house about 3 or 4 ft tall and had the kids reach inside different compartments to pick treats. A lot of them were junky Halloween toys and rings, stuff like that. All the kids absolutely loved it though. It was a great idea

(Don't really have dog the bounty Hunter but did buy a cheapie Shepherd figure many years ago at some roadside gift shop, that I always joked looked just like Dog)

Me listening to my wife spell her name on the phone, for some kind of documentation, with "and F as in Frank" knowing she's going to receive some absolutely wacky spelling of her last name. Probably Effrank or something.

Creepshow is probably the best of those, but Tales from the hood is surprisingly fun and enjoyable!

The Lost Boys – Pretty much an ideal vampire flick. It has everything: young Keifer Sutherland with a gang of teenage vampires, the two Coreys (Haim and Feldman), an odd grandpa, a hound of hell . . . what more could you want? I think you would have to pay me $50,000 to never watch this movie again.

Silver Bullet – Another flim starring young (and underrated) Corey Haim. What can I say: I’m also a sucker for werewolves. There was also somewhat of a surprise twist and a very suspenseful scene where locals track the werewolf through fog. As if that isn’t enough: also Gary Busey.

In fact I suddenly remembered, I did a little writeup of some of my favorite classic horror movies for a psychology newsletter last fall, and chose both of these films - here's what I said:

The original one is better and much creepier IMO! But both worth a watch.

41 years ago, IMO, the greatest SNL digital short, Men's Synchronized Swimming premiered. The short came from the powerhouse SNL season and still is just as brilliant today.

I still say "I'm just not that strong a swimmer" probably two or three times a year, whenever we go to a pool or water park!

Slightly related, My son has grown into size 6.5 for big kids shoes but few kids shoe brands go past a five or six. And few men's sizes go smaller than a 7. So very difficult to find shoes that fit right now!

Believe it or not, I was just talking about this very topic with students a few days ago (that nicotine/loose tobacco makes for a decent pesticide and why). So, perfectly normal over here!

I assume this is sort of the equivalent of being in a large meeting where the speaker says "if there are no more questions or comments, I'll move on now" and people go "actually I do have another question/comment!"

When my dept or college sends out any announcement (say, nomination for an award or simply information about thesis proposals), at least a few people will reply all w/something like "Thanks for the information!" Why-sarcasm, sucking up, just can't stop oneself? I genuinely don't know & don't get it!

Yep, these are the closest ones we've found! Will probably get if I don't see any more at Goodwill. Still can't believe I didn't buy them out for $0.50 per tube!

Yeah I find similar ones but not quite the same. Oh well. I'll get something, he was just hoping to combine with his current ones.

They had tubes of like 100 of em for 49 cents at Goodwill, wish I'd bought them out now! Had no idea he'd take such a liking to them but should've known since he loves Legos. They must be a generic version of some other name brand, just can't figure out what.

Hey, @vcreedsabretooth.bsky.social or @nlogan77.bsky.social - random Q. I thought you guys or other toy collectors might know. A few months ago a friend randomly bought us these waffle fry shaped blocks at Goodwill just called 'building blocks.' My son loves them and wants a bunch more. Any ideas?
