A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Just based on 200K+ federal firings & pullback of contracts, the March employment report (to be released April 4) seems certain to show bigger job losses than any month ever outside of a few in 2008-9 and 2020.

Reminder that "AGI" is pure science fiction. The FUD is being perpetuated by a blend of cynical profit hungry corporate interests and credulous laypeople. What baffles me is how utterly captured some legendary experts are by the sci-fi stories.

It is also a Chinese operated company, which means that it is by definition under the thumb of the CCP, which means we must assume that every byte through their stack is being siphoned off to their political and military machine.

Nah. Google is the 800 pound gorilla that everyone else has their bullseye on. They're already quite a bit ahead of the other players. OpenAI pulled a temporary PR coup by building a chatbot first, but if that's all they have (and so far, it is) then they're all but doomed. There's no moat.
