Later, I switched it to Insider Beta Channel, and it was stuck trying to reinstall a build that was a variant of the one I already had (like the last few digits were different but build number was same). The only way I could get out of it was to switch to Dev Channel

The one that was rough right out of the gate on this Surface Pro 12 was that during the update in OOBE, it hangs for a *very* long time - the first time it hung for ~30 minutes and I restarted it, then after a reboot it hung at 0%. Eventually it let me hit a "Just skip the update" button
