like i broadly agree with the bernie sanders people, but they are terrible judges of character (tulsi gabbard comes to mind) and they double-down rather than admit that they're easily tricked by con artists with shallow progressive talking points
take off those rose glasses, america lost its goddamn mind after 9/11, the anthrax attacks, dc sniper, etc. and never got it back
the militarization of police, proliferation of guns, political paranoia, and domestic use of 'war on terror' tactics and surveillance technology all date to late 2001
seems that the source might've actually been far-right podcaster steven crowder, based on chatter on 4chan
notably, wsj has taken down their post confidently stating the ammo had been engraved with messages, and is now noting that some sources "urge caution" about the claims
"but he debated people he disagreed with!"
yeah, on his own terms and under his own rules of engagement. that's not a debate, its "own the libs" filibustering
like yeah, if your bar for "practicing american politics the right way" is so low than anyone who doesn't use violence passes, then i guess kirk "did do politics the right way" but that's just an inane framing, its specious and meaningless
11.09.2025 17:27 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0these columns all have really strong "if we glaze charlie kirk hard enough, maybe there won't be any revenge attacks, please don't hurt me" energy, rather than just condemning violence
11.09.2025 17:25 — 👍 8 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0given your experience, do you have thoughts about apparently unverified internal police bulletin reporting (claiming that political messages were carved into the rifle and/or bullets) being leaked to the media?
11.09.2025 17:16 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0police intel bulletins typically contain unverified information or even rumors, so this is hardly surprising
but wsj shouldn't be taking this information at face value, especially given that their sources (likely cops) leaked an image of the rifle which notably did not appear to include carvings
police intelligence bulletins are routinely full of rumors and bad information, this is not surprising. they were also a main vector for misinformation on the "satanic panic" back in the 80s, and on youth narcotics usage (D.A.R.E.) in the 90s.

no honey, you just don't want to lose your followers and microcelebrity status
the bill also raised the debt limit. too bad you gave up the little leverage you had on that issue when it needed a temporary extension earlier this year.

repackaging gop culture war shibboleths against "dei" and "critical race theory" with a heavy dose of "both sides bad' doesn't seem very progressive to me, Doug
'cept trump had four years to show americans he has no interest in fixing the system, he just wants to rig things for himself while continuing to dispense favors to members of the traditional elite willing to kiss his ring
the big ugly bill's reverse robinhood should be a surprise to no one
'empiricism with bad faith characteristics' in my experience (and i'm not sure that it's at all distinctive from twitter, either pre- or post-elon)
23.06.2025 04:16 — 👍 3 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0all the 'isolationists' in the admin are going to change their tune
they all cut a deal that where they subordinate their will to the leader in exchange for some modicum of power
and i'll also note that cia director ratcliffe is from the 'lets do spooky covert action james bond shit first, and ask questions later' school of intelligence and fundamentally thinks that langley's deep bench of expert analysts are nerd wusses who should be ignored
22.06.2025 15:48 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0i've already seen 'even if this is true, surely us or israeli intelligence knew and told trump and adjusted plans' messaging
that's presupposing trump listens to his spies when they deliver inconvenient intel (note that only cia was represented at the nsc meeting; meanwhile dni gabbard was absent)
meanwhile we have fascists cosplaying as 'socialists' on bsky, spreading disinfo about how a war powers resolution actually would 'authorize an attack' on iran, and insisting that harris or biden or any other democrat would totally also have bombed iran and it wouldve totally been worse than trump
22.06.2025 15:36 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0nice disinfo, claiming that the only legislative action that can stop the war is actually enabling the war
before i mute you, i just want to add 'fuck off'
