I think if you go back through history there are plenty of badly flawed geniuses.
I love listening to Wagner, his music is astonishing, but flawed would be a bit of an understatement for the man.

12.08.2025 20:20 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Someone bought my boy a βstory boxβ - basically a box of cards with prompts / ideas for the starts and ends of stories. 05.08.2025 21:21 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am getting it. If inclusive services are also available what is the problem?
You may find it illogically triggering, but vulnerable people whoβve experienced a massive trauma arenβt always logical. And if the lack of a space they feel comfortable in stops them accessing services that isnβt ok.
If inclusive services / spaces are available how is it excluding or hurting anyone?
05.08.2025 19:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I donβt think having a structure that includes some separate spaces is a problem. So long as they are not the only services available and inclusive spaces are available as well. And I donβt think wanting the option of separate spaces makes someone inherently transphobic.
05.08.2025 18:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But there may still be women who prefer that setting as well. Not as extreme as a phobia, but still extremely cautious of males and uncomfortable in services where they are present. I think itβs possible for those women to have that option. Always in addition to inclusive services, but available.
05.08.2025 18:07 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Being able to respond to that one person is the point here though. Some consider that request to be transphobic in itself.
Gender identity is protected in UK law, as is sex. Some see those two sets of rights as being in conflict. I donβt think it has to be case but itβs not straightforward.
Just because you doubt it doesnβt make it so.
If there is a need for such a group it should be available. As Iβve said that shouldnβt mean that anyone is excluded - the vast majority of services will continue to be entirely inclusive of all women.
Might be uncomfortable, even if they didnβt want to say so. And I think they maybe deserve access as well if itβs their preference.
05.08.2025 16:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know of some kids whoβve been abused and are terrified of men. Very rarely happens, but they need separate services, patience and understanding. They should guaranteed access to services for them, but theyβre a tiny minority.
Whilst theyβre an extreme case I can also understand why some womenβ¦

β¦ from both βsidesβ that itβs discriminatory. Everyone should have a service that suits them, and that really shouldnβt be beyond us.
05.08.2025 15:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Far right? More like youβre too busy getting angry that you arenβt actually taking any notice, it really isnβt helpful.
We need to get to a situation where everyone can access the services they need (be it a refuge, rape crisis, or even just a public loo) without the ridiculous argumentsβ¦
I havenβt said cis women should have their own group. Iβve said there should be sex, as well as gender, based groups.

05.08.2025 15:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know who that would βallowβ. What Iβm saying is that some people need that space. Why is that a problem?
05.08.2025 15:07 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm not try to justify anyoneβs actions. Iβm pointing out that the need for single gender groups exists, and that denying that isnβt helping equality or access to services for anyone.
Iβve repeatedly said there should be services that everyone can access in a way they feel safe.
Please quote me once place where Iβve spouted any transphobic rhetoric?
05.08.2025 15:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0At no point have I used misleading or hateful language. I donβt hate anyone. Iβve just come across some extremely vulnerable people that could potentially find themselves unable to get the care they need, because they need a single sex space. Thatβs as unfair as excluding trans women from provision
