Peacehaven: Police release photos of mosque arson suspects
The images are of two people in balaclavas seen outside the mosque before the large blaze spread.
The attack on a mosque in Peacehaven this weekend represents an evil we must tackle.
Hate cannot and will not win.
Every community must be safe in Britain.

Itβs been a pretty depressing day with antisemitic terrorism in Manchester and Islamophobia, misogyny and abuse of power here in the West End. Letβs see if we can do better as a country tomorrow, because we have a lot to do to help make things better.

The behaviour uncovered by Panorama at Charing Cross is disgusting and a deeply depressing reminder about the journey still to be travelled to get these sort of people and this sort of culture out of the Met.

Graphic with the headline βLondon is the greatest city in the worldβ set against a bright view of the River Thames with the Shard, Tower Bridge and the city skyline.
The text celebrates what makes London special: regularly voted the number one city in the world, incredible diversity with over 300 languages spoken, world-class transport, world leader in finance tech and life sciences, best museums and galleries many free to visit, world-leading nightlife, food sport and music for every taste, host to the worldβs best sporting events, home to seven Premier League clubs, globally-ranked universities, a city where you can be yourself and love who you love, and a place for everyone.
Iβve said it once, Iβll say it again.
Ignore the haters, London is the π

Our city is far stronger than those who seek to divide it. Our tolerance, diversity & energy unsettles some but weβre not going to bow & scrape to appease those who donβt understand true patriotism-pride in our place, community & country that is so much more than they imagine

maida hill market TfL cycle hire station
TfL cycle hire at 300 harrow road
How did this happen?
Two cycle hire docking stations installed in 2023/24
As Lime & Forest use was growing fast
These stations are at the edge of the network
Yet with 50+ trips/day they are more popular than 1/3 of Westminster stations many of which have been in place 15 years & are more central

Met Police promises to tackle West End crime hotspots
Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley says he is doubling the number of officers tackling West End crime.
NEW: Thanks to record funding from City Hall, the West End will see a 50% increase in the number of police officers on the beat and an additional 90 police officers working in new or enhanced town centre teams in hotspot areas.

We discussed important opportunities to deepen partnership working between the Council, GLA, Met, businesses and local residents representatives. Also really good to hear how these new officers are part of a package of measures that will reduce abstractions across Westminster.

Really delighted that the Government has listened to Westminster and London Councils by confirming new powers to regulate e-bike hire schemes like Lime are in the new Devolution Bill announced today. We need those enforcement powers in place as soon as possible to give TFL & WCC the tools we need.

An Overnight Stay Levy is something local government has long campaigned for and would be warmly welcome. However would need to be on basis that revenue was appropriately shared between local and regional government, recognising that many of the cost pressures from tourism fall directly on councils.
