The behaviour uncovered by Panorama at Charing Cross is disgusting and a deeply depressing reminder about the journey still to be travelled to get these sort of people and this sort of culture out of the Met.

Met Police promises to tackle West End crime hotspots Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley says he is doubling the number of officers tackling West End crime.

NEW: Thanks to record funding from City Hall, the West End will see a 50% increase in the number of police officers on the beat and an additional 90 police officers working in new or enhanced town centre teams in hotspot areas.

We discussed important opportunities to deepen partnership working between the Council, GLA, Met, businesses and local residents representatives. Also really good to hear how these new officers are part of a package of measures that will reduce abstractions across Westminster.

Really delighted that the Government has listened to Westminster and London Councils by confirming new powers to regulate e-bike hire schemes like Lime are in the new Devolution Bill announced today. We need those enforcement powers in place as soon as possible to give TFL & WCC the tools we need.

We are raising concerns urgently with the police as our noise officers attended but the scale of the situation was clearly very challenging.

"Today's Spending Review provides a steep and vital increase in funding for affordable and social homes, which will go some way to tackling the capital's housing crisis.

An Overnight Stay Levy is something local government has long campaigned for and would be warmly welcome. However would need to be on basis that revenue was appropriately shared between local and regional government, recognising that many of the cost pressures from tourism fall directly on councils.
