The Trachtenberg movies in the Predator franchise are excellent, but I can't stop thinking about the insane implied world-building in Predators. They knew this doctor was a serial killer to send him to their hunting planet? Who is gathering their intel? World governments? Another alien species?

Every part of this story is wild: The pilot named "Tempest," the cinematic flying under and shooting up into it, then the narrow escape from the falling, flaming wreckage.

This is a guy and a whole administration that is so thirsty for war crimes that is should really be disqualifying. But I'm sad to say that there are lots of people in this country who don't find "horny for war crimes" to be a problem.

Think about any cowboy, kung fu, samurai or superhero story ever. Is the manly hero the one who brags at how they can beat anyone in the room and beats their chest? Or is it the quiet, calm one who tries in earnest to deescalate things, even though they have to endure some embarrassment?

I'm going to propose a law that anybody who suggests turning off body cams be put in a national database of unemployable corrupt former cops. Also that law funds large awards to the cops that provide that footage. Maybe we can do it privately.
