A dramatic thunderstorm looms over the Chicago skyline at sunset. The towering cumulonimbus is lit pink and orange by the setting sun on the left side, with a patch of blue sky peeking through. Meanwhile, darker, ominous clouds dominate the right side of the frame. The city below is partially shrouded in rain, with streetlights glowing in the foreground as twilight sets in.

I managed one shot of the cotton candy cumulonimbus before darker, low-level clouds slid into the top of the frame. It was a gorgeous, surreal moment to see rain still falling over the east side of downtown, while fluffy pink clouds and blue sky belied the strength of the storm still in progress
