Question for #envhist and humanities peeps: I’m working on an outreach plan supporting a wetland restoration project. Does anybody have recommendations of authors or projects using history to increase public awareness on restoration projects?

Counterpoint | Minnesota humanities graduates thrive in meaningful careers "The stereotype of the underemployed history major is simply not true," professor Andrea Kaston Tange writes.

My latest: "Numerous studies show that majors in the humanitiesβ€”typically, in departments of English, history, philosophy, religious studies, classics and languagesβ€”lead students to employment and life satisfaction outcomes as positive as those for majors traditionally championed as 'practical.'”

As I was reading, I thought, "you don't need to 'move to the margins' to experience this kind of fulfillment from working with students!" Go teach at a school that is an HSI, or attracts a lot of first-generation students, or what have you. Those jobs are amazing πŸ˜€

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

She fell into being a Tiktoker after her video about eating tacos on a date went viral. But if the requirement is someone who intentionally sells products, she is more about β€œinfluencing” people to be themselves and not trying to shill for money.

Yes. There ended up being six years between my graduation and its publication. Most of my revisions were in the central chapters, but I definitely refined and fleshed out parts of the other chapters as well.

Yes, Medal of Honor to some of the 7th Cavalry. There was an effort recently to consider rescinding the medals, and the committee’s report decided not to. This is not solely Hegseth’s decision, but his statementsβ€”glorifying the recipients and calling it a β€œbattle”—make clear his position.

It’s horrifying. At least 250-300 died. Even in 1890, people recognized the horror.

To call this a massacre, according to Hegseth, is just another example of β€œwoke” history.
