Smithsonian removes Trump from impeachment exhibit in American history museum A temporary placard, on display since 2021, described the president's historic impeachments. Officials said the exhibit was restored to an earlier version following a review of legacy content.

"The change came about as part of a content review that the Smithsonian agreed to undertake following pressure from the White House to remove an art museum director."

Note that the Smithsonian is independent of any branch of the federal government. Bowing to pressure is a choice.

I’m thinking today about all the women doing DEI work in universities, and how all of our canceled grants and shuttered initiatives means that not only are we losing the time we’ve already put in, we’re now even more behind our male peers who stayed focused on their research.

One man cannot, overnight, change a fact as written in thousands of copies of hundreds of different books across the world's libraries.

But under pressure from the politicians or guided by his own depravity, he can rewrite history overnight by altering the output of the LLM he owns.

Yes, I know. Other state employees have already done this for the most part. The universities tried to delay.

This applies to all Regents institutions, which includes KU, Kansas State, Wichita State, Pittsburg State, Emporia State and Fort Hays State. There are a lot of unhappy folks. We were instructed here at KSU to remove ours last month.

Any historians/political scientists want to write a piece on the history of gerrymandering and how the process has been revolutionized with the advent of computer mapping and precise voter data sets. I’d love to publish it @cliocontemporary.bsky.social. Message me if interested πŸ—ƒοΈ

Giving up Canvas entirely won't be possible, since we require its use for accessibility reasons, but perhaps there are ways to limit our engagement.

I am literally putting one together right now. I used them maybe a decade ago, but now with AI integrated into JSTOR (and this Canvas mess), I am trying them again. I used to use University Readers (now with a new name) but also Coursepacks, Etc. seems like a good deal.
