I guess, in the end, I'll hold for more ~anecdata~ to yield a final verdict.

Maybe there's tweaking that can be done to improve the user experience

Or maybe GPT-5 will end up being "better" for us all, even if it doesn't feel that way (i.e. being more grounded / less agreeable)

TBD, I guess ๐Ÿ‘ฝ

Maybe part of it is the toning down of sycophantic tendencies and a realignment of "personality"

I know that ChatGPT has tended to have a bias towards the user's preferences in a given context, and I can personally attest to having been, maybe, led down paths that were.. unnecessary or worse

I think I'm just using BlueSky as a venting board when something annoys me...

Putting that thought aside and plowing right on ahead โ€”

Not sure I'm a fan of GPT-5. ChatGPT has felt overall less helpful / useful / "real" since the update.

This past few weeks, it seems like every LLM-assisted coding option has become more restricted.

#Cursor implementing its new pricing model was a huge setback, and I even think it's being temporarily "better" than planned to get users to calm down after the large pushback

Single test run of #GitHubCopilot Agents yesterday

Asked it to refactor a Python file to reduce code duplication (DRY principle) โ€” simple request

Used about 25% of my entire monthly request allocation ๐Ÿ™„ And the results were underwhelming...

*sigh*

My advice is to start off with the right goal(s) in mind.

You'll very likely end up frustrated if your goal is "fluency"

Learning ๆ—ฅๆœฌ่ชž is a lifelong journey, to be very honest.

So adjust your expectations accordingly and only compare your progress to where you were yesterday ๐Ÿค—

The Genki textbooks are fantastic. Tae Kim's Guide pairs really well with them!

I'd also suggest Anki. SRS can be a pain but also extremely rewarding (and the only way I was able to truly remember some foundational vocab)

If you have any questions, lmk. Language learning's a hobby of mine ๐Ÿ™‚

You've got to be kidding me. @danabra.mov works at bluesky..?

I have faith in this project ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Alright, BlueSky it is then.

I do like the username system / domain verification โ€” that was a smart feature to add.

Any insights as to why Mastodon didn't take the lead? (and/or am I just missing out on its popularity unknowingly?)
