This week, we proclaimed April 2025 as National Second Chance Month in Lucas County and honored the work of reentry advocates in our community.
Together, we can reduce victimization and recidivism and help set individuals who are released from federal and state prisons up for success in our County.
Commissioner Sobecki is in Washington D.C. with the Toledo Regional Alliance this week to meet with legislators, federal agencies, and local representatives to advocate for issues important to Lucas County through a series of sessions.

Today, we inducted Bishop James Robert Alan Culp as the 20th member of the Lucas County Wall of Friends, which recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in the community and have close ties to Lucas County.
Bishop Culp has spent his life fighting for fairness, justice and equality.

Today, we honored members of Lucas County JFS for earning prestigious statewide awards in 2024.
Our Division of Child Support earned the 2024 Most Improved Paternity Award from Ohio JFS and our childcare unit won Best Application Timeliness from the Ohio Children & Youth.

The Board of Lucas County Commissioners voted Tuesday to join the Ohio Large Urban Counties Alliance, which will have representatives from Ohio's six biggest counties.
Lucas County Commissioner Pete Gerken, who spearheaded the coalition, has been named chairperson of the alliance.

The L.E.A.D Program (Leaders Emerging And Developing) began in 2002 with the intention of identifying and developing informal leaders from the "middle of the pack" within County departments.
