This morning, an event was held to celebrate all of this year's completed UROS projects, at which Robin and Tinashe were awarded the Dean of Teaching and Learning's prize for an outstanding project.

Very well done to both researchers, and to all who participated in UROS 2025!

Working with mentors from the Conservation and Natural Sciences departments, and using Robin's expertise in ornithology and Tinashe's in preventive conservation measures, the pair worked to understand and prepare a display of owl pellets recovered from Doddington Hall, for display to the public.

As a guest of Heritage Lincolnshire, Leah had the opportunity to speak to HRH about our ongoing partnership with them, which provides conservation students with invaluable hands-on work experience, research opportunities, and skills development through authentic industry projects.

Royal visit πŸ‘‘

We're honoured that lecturer Leah represented our department and the University of Lincoln during HRH The Duke of Edinburgh's visit to Lincoln last week.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Duke's stop at the iconic 'Wonky House' at the junction of Michaelgate and Steep Hill.

On 20 September, LSHH conservationist Leah Warriner-Wood spoke at an event celebrating 200 years since the birth of Charles Frederick Worth, in Bourne, Lincolnshire. Leah's talk, "Threads of History", introduced the role conservators play in preserving the stories that objects tell about the past.

Beige text against a burnt orange background reads: As individuals and a team, the academic and technical staff within the University of Lincoln's department of Conservation are shocked and saddened to learn of the redundancies taking place within National Trust conservation studios and properties. The National Trust has been a sector leader in the care and conservation of our shared cultural heritage for generations, and a beacon to which our students look for inspiration, guidance, and experience. We are concerned for what the cuts may mean for emerging professionals and the conservation sector, but we send our heartfelt thanks to each and every National Trust colleague - past and present - who has supported us in our educational and research aims over the years. We are standing with you in solidarity, as one conservation community. October 2025.
