These sandals and homemade dress were worn by Kellingleyβs Margaret Dominiak, when she was crowned National Coal Queen 1973 in Skegness. The leather vanity case, by Antler Ltd, was amongst the prizes won by Rose McLachlan, crowned National Coal Queen 1969. Via @ncmme.bsky.social.

Her series Images of Coal was exhibited across the UK.
Arnfield shared a close friendship with artist Dorothie Field. Their shared passion for social and ecological issues, particularly related to the coal mining industry, strengthened their bond. (3/4)

Her move to Nottinghamshire in 1970 sparked her interest in the coal industry, leading to powerful depictions of mining life.
In the 1990s, Arnfield focused on the decline of the coal industry, with British Coal sponsoring her exhibition Coal Mining in Nottinghamshire - a Tribute 1994. (2/4)
