A close up view of a tennis ball sized round piece of rock. It is pale grey, and the surface is slightly bumpy. It's sitting on a layer of brown paper, which is torn to reveal the rock. It is being held up in the palm of a hand.

A middle-aged woman with short pink hair and round black glasses is standing to the left of the image. They are wearing a green patterned shirt with a red and white name badge and a white patterned lanyard. They are standing by a large window next to a sign which says "Private Event, Colonies, Hives and Queens: Insects and Colonialism". There are logos for the University of Reading and the Natural History Museum (London).

Hello! I turned up here in January and immediately wandered off. What have I been up to since? Writing about fluid preserved collections, talking about colonialism, preserving fish, photographing fish, writing about fish... I know very little about fish, but lots about fluid preservation! #PhDLife
