More private health care linked to higher mortality, Quebec study warns Experts are concerned about the direction Quebec is taking by increasingly turning to the private sector to provide care to the population (care that is often publicly funded).

www.ctvnews.ca/montreal/art... β€˜The study by @iris-recherche.bsky.social and @policyalternatives.ca …analyzed the health-care systems of 25 member countries of the OECD….countries that allow greater private sector involvement in healthcare achieve poorer results on 7 mortality indicators’

Look, I’m doing my intermittent fasting and dieting like I’m supposed to, but I’m always going to wish that it was possible to exercise enough to lose weight without ever dieting.
But nope, diet is somewhere 80% of the way I’m going to shrink this unhealthy belly.

Opinion: B.C.’s low-wage workers can’t be forgotten despite economic headwinds There is now a staggering $10-per-hour gap between B.C.’s minimum wage and the living wage in Metro Vancouver

Racialized and female workers disproportionately earn below the living wage.

In Metro Vancouver half of all racialized women earn less than decent wages, reflecting inequalities in our labour market say report authors @iglikaivanova.bsky.social and Anastasia French.

Alberta aims to curtail regulatory bodies from sanctioning workers for after-hours activities | CBC News Many Alberta workers could no longer be investigated by their licensing bodies for what they say outside of work hours, should the legislature pass a new bill.

Imagine using the power of the state to limit professional regulatory bodies from being able to protect the integrity of the profession from members who use the credential to defend odious speech.

Tonight there is a draft for a women’s pro baseball league and on Saturday I will watch the women’s soccer team I support play for a championship after their most successful season yet, surrounded by other diehard fans at a bar. I am living in a world 8-year-old me could have never imagined.

Low-wage workers face impossible choices: buy groceries or heat the home, pay bills or the rent.

For the 3 hour classes, I make them take two 10-minute breaks. Even I can’t pay attention for longer than 50 minutes, so why expect them, right?
Plus, it doesn’t sound healthy to sit so long.

True!!! Fun fact, I try to lower the stress levels of my students during our health breaks by getting them to talk about their hobbies. Since I mainly teach young men (biz school!) I have learned so much about working out, protein shakes, sports, and gaming.
They seem to enjoy being asked questions.

Also, I look just like her. Spitting image. Except she’s several inches taller because I inherited some super short genes from my mom’s side.
Even our profiles are identical. Strong genes, I guess!
It’s freaky looking at old pictures of each of us because the similarities are so uncanny.

But I will in the future! I absolutely love cooking. I even minored in Home Ec for my undergrad. I borrow cookbooks from the public library all the time and the ones I love the love I end up buying.
One of the best hobbies IMHO!

I can’t promise because I’ll be at work teaching when hubby and kiddo have dinner. It’s an early practice on Wednesdays. Not sure which sport though because he made so many teams β€” volleyball (2 teams), basketball, and soccer.

This past weekend my paternal grandmother turned 100. While he body is failing, her mind is as sharp as I remember from my childhood.
She says the keys to her brain health has been having community, walking everywhere, growing her own food, cooking at home, no alcohol, smoking, and low sugar.

ChatGPT’s signature writing style is everywhere now, and I hate it. It reminds me of when we tried mixing all the beverages at the soda fountain in middle school. We didn’t actually create the perfect drink, we just made a cloying monstrosity that lost everything good about its constituent parts.
