Your worth is not determined by your health.

Your worth is not determined by your job, marital status or economic output.

Everyone is deserving of shelter, food, healthcare and social supports.

No one should have to โ€œearn themโ€.

When basic needs are met, society is better off.

Also, youโ€™ve looked AMAZING in all the pictures Iโ€™ve seen you dressed in purple ๐Ÿงก

Love that!!! ๐Ÿ™Œ
I hit a point where I realized that no matter formally I dressed up, the biz bros students in my classes were always going to bash me in my student evaluations. Sure, theyโ€™re a tiny minority, but theyโ€™re loud.
Now I dress for me and Iโ€™m FUN ๐Ÿคฉ

I chopped my hair off recently and finally got around to taking a cute picture to upload here.
Yes, today I wore a lot of purple to work. Iโ€™m so hyper and quirky that I gave up dressing conservatively to appear more โ€œprofessional,โ€ whatever that means ๐Ÿคท

Whatever you ask me about, I donโ€™t have pictures. ๐Ÿคท

Whoa ๐Ÿคฏ
For the politicians Iโ€™ve been connected with as someone heavily involved with the NDP for 20+ years, membersโ€™ office staff were not at all hired this way and were even unionized because they are such specialized professionals. To learn this is not how it works in USA has blown my mind!!

As a second generation academic married to a second generation academic, I can confirm this is true!!
To give credit to these male relatives, they now openly criticize this system that requires two people to do the work that is just paid to one to get tenure and be promoted.

A thing I think I see playing out is that conservative men want women's labour reserved to them. That's the tradwife. If women turn that labour outwards to the community or to other women, that's a threat to them. It denies those men the labour they need to remain in comfort and power.

26.01.2026 04:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 71    ๐Ÿ” 8    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 2    ๐Ÿ“Œ 1

Also, Iโ€™ll add that society exists even more off the free labour of racialized women!!
I just couldnโ€™t say that because I ran out of room.

26.01.2026 16:16 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Wow! I mean, I knew womenโ€™s labour was invisible to men, but this is just how bad it is? A man thinks that women just doing the normal PTA/community thing is professional grade logistics?
No, my dude, this is how the world works, existing off free labour from women, and youโ€™re plain ignorant.

Red dinner plate with a salad bowl on top of it. The salad is just lettuce, celery, carrots, and cherry tomatoes. On the plate, thereโ€™s roasted chicken breast with broccoli and ranch sauce. On the right is cut up sweet potatoes. In the middle, thereโ€™s a tablespoon of white rice. Pretty boring but diet friendly.

Dieting. Sigh.
Yes, I slipped in a little bit of rice that was only supposed to be for the hubby and kiddo. But Iโ€™m getting pretty tired of sweet potatoes (pictured cut up on the right).
The chicken and broccoli is yummy, thankfully. Phew ๐Ÿ˜…

Based on how many blocks I've had to do after posting about Carney's cuts to public health and agriculture, there is still nothing his fans will not rationalize.

Strangely, I havenโ€™t watched any of them. Thatโ€™s weird because I can see that theyโ€™re my style.
Thanks! ๐Ÿ™
Iโ€™ll have to see if any are in my univโ€™s library, so I can assign them.
But also canโ€™t wait to watch them myself!!

Oh yes. A source and not a whistleblower.
I assigned โ€œAll the presidents menโ€ for my research methods class last week.
Umโ€ฆ I found out just how many students didnโ€™t watch it when we got to a question in the Kahoot where โ€œDeep Throatโ€ was a potential answer.
Yeah. I won โ€œthe most engaging profโ€ ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ

I am not being snarky. I need my colleagues who wrote on covid school lockdowns to engage with this. To be as loud as they have been about prior "learning loss." Hell, you can cite Tom & Mark's AERJ paper so you feel better that there's some econ somewhere in your argument.

For my business ethics class, next weekโ€™s Socratic seminar is on whistleblowers.
Is there another movie on a whistleblower that I should reference??
They really get into homework when I assign movies.

Oh my goodness, yes!! I remember how shocking every part of the real life events were shocking at the time. I was an undergraduate student then, but I very much highly doubt any of my undergrads now would be equally shocked.
Youโ€™ve made a great point!

Re-watching โ€œThe Insiderโ€ (1999) and remembering how much I loved it the first time too.
It would be so odd for young people to watch it now and wonder why it would be such a big deal to reveal that cigarette companies knew how addictive their products were, but it really was a moment in time.

In particular, step 1 was accepting more than 200 us bound planes. Some were domestic flights with US passengers without passports. There was little thought given to waiving standard entry requirements and in Gander residents opened up their homes to stranded passengers.

Your white adjacent / white kids can absolutely handle hearing about what is happening.

There are children their age going through it. Separated from their families.

They need to understand now, so they grow up knowing.

Ignorant kids create ignorant adults.

Periodic reminder that people routinely die in their cars in their garages during extreme cold weather events. Do not use your car to warm up or charge devices while you are parked in a garage or anywhere without good ventilation, not even for "just a couple minutes."
