I used to be in that one all the time. My bestie worked in the Pepco building downtown. And my school was near Union Station.

I haven't posted here in a while. My father's funeral was last Wednesday. I'm as ok as one can be under such circumstances. Burial is next month, military. Le sigh.

A friend was telling me that her work laptop is experiencing weird glitches, and it's clear that she's being surveilled.

I told her that I loved having her son as a student and that he was a favorite of mine. She'd never heard that before. My AP called me the ADHD and ED (kids with emotional dysfunction) whisperer. I loved that kid.

He seemed amazed that my afro could shape shift. He was funny and smart and wild. His file was binder. He wore a Burberry coat and wouldn't take it off. Hence, Easter Coat. Despite his sometimes challenging behavior, he made it on the 8th grade boat cruise. I met his mom at promotion.

He needed a gentle touch. Too bad most of his day was spent battling folks who didn't understand that. He'd arrive at my class either full of mischief or spent. One day, he fell asleep atop a pile of backpacks at my feet behind my desk. One day, I got a silk press. He came in squealing.

I nicknamed him Easter Coat. He joined my 8th grade journalism class in January or so. Cussed me out and eloped on day 1. I told security to bring him back to my room, not the office. He came back. I laid him out. He sat down. He was super dysregulated on Mondays.

I'm grateful that the Howard Theater was saved and is operational.

I actually got up, dropped my kid off at school, and went to my campus office to work. I never go to campus on Fridays unless it's for a meeting. It was super quiet, and I was in a zone. Finished and got to my baby's school 2 minutes before dismissal.

I focused and completed a task that I've been dreading. 40+ pages later and I'm done.
