Vivid memories of seeing this as a child and just being terrified.
Still find it sinister today.
If I was not already excited to see the DAM tour when it reaches London, then this interview just tipped me over the edge! π

Straight out the gate every cast member is at the top of their game.
Don Warrington tho is absolutely magisterial.
Waiting in the virtual queue for Bowie V&A tickets.
If I shake my screen will that make this person get a shift on?
I love the sitcom pose that Jayston is doing here.
Like the tree has forgotten his boss is coming round for dinner.

19.10.2025 19:41 β π 3 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0I never saw Jedi at the cinema on its original release.
However I was at the Queensway on its last working day.
The last film they screened: Return of the Jedi.
Its an absolute sin that nothing has been done with the space since it closed.
Went to see Empire Strikes Back at the Gaumont too. Went in the week after school so it was even more exciting. And I gleefully spolit the ending the next morning on the playground. π¬
19.10.2025 18:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The whole sequence, ending with Superman catching the helicopter and the theme crashing in, is just joyous. I'd challenge that no other subsequent superhero film has been able to top it.

19.10.2025 16:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This afternoon's viewing: the recent Wes Anderson film.
So essentially every Wes Anderson film.
We were out in Chelmsley Wood. No car so all our cinema visits meant a bus journey into Birmingham. The Gaumont (where I saw Star Wars in 1978), ABC New Street, and Odeon Queensway. Bristol Road was a special treat as it meant two buses!
19.10.2025 16:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The very same! We had a choice of Superman, Grease, and something else. Brother, sister and mum chose Grease.
Dad and myself made the correct choice.
One of my favourite memories: seeing this film with my Dad, New Yearβs Day 1979, at the ABC Bristol Road, Birmingham.
He still quotes βYouβve got me? Whoβs got you?!β now as his favourite line in cinema.
Walked past Christopher Biggins at Birmingham New Street station.
He was leaving.
I was arriving.
'You're In The Army Now'...but to be honest nothing would surprise me with him.
