Oooooo ok, I thought it was for terrain, it will look great for a base.

Looks totally awesome, but I don’t think u need to put in so much effort texturing the water, when you look at ice holes the water inside is usually very still and dark, I think just leaving the base blank and painting it black with a colored ring around the edge of the ice would work well.

Post some pics after you have a go with it, and don’t be afraid to do the base mid process, everything you read says to do it last but it’s a big area of color and getting it down earlier gives you a better sense of how the rest is working

If you look at the photos on my feed here you can see both methods at play. The big head navigator has been covered all over with earthshade before highlighting his head only with white. The tree alien is a white spray over a black spray with shades painted into the recesses leaving white exposed.

Try with a small area at the rear of the model like the back pack for the slop method, or a shoulder pad for the recesses method, see what looks better to you.

If you want the green to be brighter you can then go back and add a highlight with the original green, alternatively you can paint the earthshade carefully into the recesses of the model leaving raised areas the original green, this is much harder but will result in a much brighter model.

The traditional method is just apply it liberally all over the model, this will give heavy shading but will also darken your green colour. Make sure how have painted any metal bits like the gun and the backpack first.

Nuln Oil works as well, it’s more shiny black, earthshade is kind of brown black which I prefer as an all purpose wash.

Yes, I’ve never done grow campaign so that didn’t come to my mind. In my youth I played a lot of games with Stilmania ideas, no magic, no monsters, etc, and I’ve recently been reading Warhammer Ancient Battles books with great interest. But for me warhammer is most fun in Herohammer mode.

Yes I read the scenario, interesting, I played a lot of warhammer skirmish, empire in flames, mordheim, that kind of thing back in the day, it’s a sweet spot for me. What this reminded me of was the narrative campaign terrain sets, Idol of Gork Tears of Isha, etc, they usually started at 500pts.

It’s like they intended to have the kneepads as a separate part when they were designing then decided not to doing the tooling. Have you tried a soft foam abrasive pad? They work better on the rounded surface because they abrade the whole thing. Nail polishing pads are good.

It’s the ones on the knee pads and legs that are the most worst.

Don’t stress it you aren’t going to fuck it up, it’s looking great. Remember the golden rule: if in doubt just wash with agrex earthshade. They don’t call it liquid talent for nothing.

How’s the new kit? Do the models have the same weird undercuts as the previous versions? I got gifted one of the old sea guard and it is a fugley thing.

This would be awesome and I would totally play. But it seems to me the army lists are structured in such a way that monster+general+ mage + 2units = 1000pts so I don’t see them needing to do this.
