10.02.2026 03:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0People have worn out "performative." We often perform things that are real, you know. Posting is a kind of performance of one's politics. Performative doesn't actually mean "fake" or "empty," it just gets deployed that way. We actually need performance. Case in point: last night's performance.

Been getting hype for guerrilla archives and other projects in that independent vein lately.

College is such a magical time for human development (young people learning how to be independent, with new peers from all over!), I want nothing more than to get a permanent job to keep teaching students at this life stage forever!
I've not read a lot of early eugenicists but I have to assume they got the seeds of their ideas from the Republic.
02.02.2026 21:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Weirdly kind of progressive on women's humanity but just a total misunderstanding of how human bonds work. Creepy creepy creepy on the sex stuff.

02.02.2026 18:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When students complain about the amount of reading I wish I could convey to them just how much the assigned reading is only the tip of a very cool iceberg. Having a "suggested reading" portion of the syllabus for the students who get really into it is nice for that reason, imo.

31.01.2026 17:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Organizing in the real world with real, flawed people is messy and if I were to give any advice it would be that sometimes it's better to complain to your real life friends (who are not directly involved) rather than process emotions online.
30.01.2026 20:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0True that all of us are targets, but we don't need to have an all-or-nothing approach. It's still worth mitigating risk even if you can't eliminate it.
30.01.2026 18:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The strategy of masking isn't unique to left wing organizing though. The Klan famously masks their identities.
I think we're probably past the point winning the narrative by presenting ourselves as empathizable figures. Might as well reduce risk of being targeted for retribution where possible.
