Lenny, as a non-native speaker, typically speaks with a lot more formality and stiffness in her sentence structure and vocabulary, where Hannah is much more relaxed and naturalistic. which I think is a crucial part of figuring out their whole deal.
the fact that, in the prologue chapter, Lenny is speaking λλ€/λκΉ while her wife Hannah is using μ is difficult to convey in english, particularly if you aren't familiar with the language. but it's a very important detail!
I am very glad to have introduced Korean culture and language into my writings, but I still have very mixed feelings on my use of romanized korean instead of proper νκΈ. like... it is for accessibility to western audiences, sure, but I feel like it loses a lot of its cultural context.

like, to be clear - this meant actually doing no-gi shit in full kit with an airsoft MP5, some blue guns, and a piece of foam standing in for an axe. it got very involved - and that section of the chapter got literally zero comments on AO3 lmaooo
one of the things that has been weird about writing ISOLATING EVENT is that the parts that I agonized over the most in writing it really get the least attention. which... I guess, mission accomplished? it means they worked, but it still feels strange.
