Bought a monks robe & cape off ebay. Wrecked it with a wire brush. Using my old gothic gauntlets to go with scrap EVA foam made Witch King Helm as a test. I've also have gothic pauldrons in my attic that I will use for Halloween event on 18th October at the Dirleton Castle. #DirletonCastle

A colleague suggested I make a witch hat for Black Agnes mannequin this Halloween. Desided to make her a Witch King helmet instead. Making it free hand from scrap EVA foam without plans eyeballing it. Should have measured it properly as its kind of wonky. It's not 'The' Witch King but a Witch King.

Dunnideer Castle (Scotland) mock-up of Tower with Barmkin. Built on top of a 'vitrified' Iron Age Hillfort with earlier lower hill ditches being reused as an outerline of defence. Vitrification by Dragon breath? or gorse bushes burnt in ditches over months to make glass walls!

My 'Blue Peter' style model of Dirleton Castle I made from cornflakes packets, toilet rolls, plastic till rolls, cardboard from mint rock boxes from work & covered with sand and PVA glue about 32 years ago. Measured on old info board. Use to take it on local Primary School visits. #ManAtArms

Well I'm 62 today. When I was 12 my Big Sister said I should grow up and stop drawing Daleks & making stuff out of rubbish (Blue Peter style). 50 years on have two homemade full size Daleks, dress as a Knight, Judge Dredd (for taxis kids trip in summer) & still making props out of rubbish!
