One gets to read very fresh, new contemporary articles and stories and poems.
Anuwaad has translated literature from all over the world. This year they have included african stories. I'm very excited to read those.

The variety of writings found in these Diwali special magazines is honestly breathtaking.
Every magazine curates with a unique style.
The images on the front page are my favourite thing about these magazines. When I began buying Deepavali, it was for the front page image that was always unique.

A spread of Diwali special edition of different marathi magazines. Kulfi, bhaas, anuwaad, aawaj, deepavali, aksharlipi, bhavtal, anuwad, mauj, purush uvach, hauns.

This Diwali tradition is very unique to maharashtra. Every year there are numerous Diwali special magazines coming out.
Some are printing since the last 75-80 years and are a must read every diwali. Some are new, 10-5 year old publications trying out new experiments.

I remember having different driver issues whenever I would upgrade to the latest ubuntu.
